My wife and I visited Ankara for a three day trip to see the city and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Capital. We stayed at the Divan Cukurhan for the duration of our short stay and we were both absolutely delighted with the outstanding service, atmosphere, wood floors throughout, the authentic pieces throughout the hotel. There are a large number of antique and vintage artifacts from the Divan family that are nothing short of amazing the view and read about. There is a museum built into the hotel with a wide assortment of old cars and motorbikes and family heirlooms from the Divan family and is almost like going back in time. The hotel restaurant is situated right in the middle of museum and the service and quality of the meals and drinks are second to none. We tried a few other restaurants that were allegedly top quality but found ourselves coming back to the hotel restaurant. The breakfast was amazing, they brought out small copper bowls with thinly slices of cooked sucuk (Turkish sausage) with eggs broken and cooked over the top…I’ve never in my life tasted a breakfast item so incredibly delicious. The wood floors in the room looked to be from an old ship, so rich and deep as though the wood was from the ships of the Ottoman navy. If you are looking for an absolutely splendid stay in Ankara with romantic overtones that cannot be compared by any standard, I cannot think of another place that would even come close to this experience.
