“One of the Best Wedding Venues We've Been To”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

We attended my niece's wedding last weekend (9/5/13-9/8/13). They rented the property for all 4 nights so both families could spend the weekend together; there were 50 guests. The accommodations and the food were spectacular. We hiked up to the observatory on one of the trails within the property but couldn't make it to Hidden Falls. The view was amazing! We had a great time and the wedding was spectacular! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend this venue for a wedding or any other special celebration. Phils and Rob, the property owners, were very gracious hosts. They've created a beautiful home for everyone to enjoy.

My son had his wedding here this past weekend(08/10/13) and I was astonished at how well everything went. He booked the entire estate from Friday till Sunday. From the excellent food, exceptional rooms, beautiful grounds, spacious cottages, every detail was perfect. Not one of the 120 guest had even a single complaint. We have been to many NY weddings that were over 80k + and this affair was every bit as nice, food was better, and it was a quarter of the price. The owners worked so hard and attended to every detail. They deserve all of their excellent reviews. Our only regret was that half the guest had to stay off site and didn't get to experience the spa like rooms and then delicious morning breakfasts as the house and cottages can only accommodate around 55 overnight guest . Hope to one day be able to have a family reunion at Hawksdene House as it was a magical place!

Room Tip: A little out of the way, but well worth the trip to this area of NC

We were married August 3, 2013 at the Hawkesdene House with 50 guests. What an amazing experience! We opted to rent the property for three nights to help keep our guests together and provide a relaxing experience for all. This was the best decision we made. Our weekend, the staff, lodging and meals were perfect. Our guests loved staying with us on the property and waking up to breakfast ready every morning and either enjoying the relaxing property or going offsite for zip lining.

The ceremony was held at the pergola in front of the house and the reception outside. The staff took us to the top of the mountain for amazing pictures with our photographer. If something did go wrong, we didn't know. The staff was so friendly and took care of every detail, no matter how small.

The only change I would make is that we would have loved to book an extra day after the ceremony, or even had the entire week!

My husband, family and friends would recommend this location for an special event, it was well worth the cost.

Just spent three nights at Hawkesdene House for a family wedding. Everything was perfect, from the meals, we had eight, to the setting and the service. All the staff is warm, friendly and treat you like a best friend. Phil and Rob have created an outstanding facility that anyone can enjoy.

Quite possibly the most beautiful location for a wedding in North Carolina. The main house is decorated with impecable taste; from the furniture to the original art works on the walls. I'd love for Phil & Rob to decorate my house. Phil's meals were incredibly delicious and Rob the consummate host. I never saw Rob not moving, but never in a way that was obtrusive. The landscaping, from the plants to the bubbling creeks and fountains took your breath away. Sitting in the open air pavilion with a stone fireplace on one side and what appeared to be a rain forest in front of you, was truly the most relaxing, rejuvenating experience I've had in quite some time. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

We spent two nights here for a wedding and the service was impeccable, the food couldn't have been better and attractions on the ground met everyone's needs. We stayed in the main lodge and our room was right by the breakfast as so we did hear the coffee being made at 6:30 in the morning and the noise from the kitchen. I would suggest that you request another room but if that is all that is available, still plan on staying here

My husband and I recently attended my brother-in-law's wedding at Hawkesdene House. We arrived Friday late afternoon and stayed until Sunday morning. They rented out the entire estate for their wedding and, I must say, this has got to be one of the most ideal locations for a wedding!

The property itself is beautiful! The estate is very well cared for and there's a great "photo op" everywhere you turn! We stayed in the Main House which I can only describe as "mountain chic" - the House has a very rustic feel to it with definite modern touches. The rooms themselves are modern in style and quite comfortable (they don't skimp on the pillows and bedding)!

I have spent a great deal of time traveling - whether it was across the country or across the world - and I've encountered numerous people in the hospitality field; some good, some not so good. I have to say that every staff member that we spoke to or just saw in passing was genuinely friendly and made you feel like welcome guests in their home.

We were served dinner on Friday and Saturday nights as well as breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The food was fantastic....everything we had was delicious! And there is a "snack station" available at all times (which is convenient if you don't feel like making the 10 minute drive into town to the local grocery store).

The House is as much family-friendly as it is perfect for a romantic getaway. There isn't much to do in town, but if you enjoy the outdoors or simply want to lounge peacefully on a deck or by the fire pit, then this place is ideal for you. I'm not the "outdoorsy type" but even I could appreciate the beauty of the Hawkesdene House estate - you cannot help but leave feeling rejuvenated!
