“Nice clean rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2008

Hotel staffs: Friendly and great service

Rooms: Nice, adequate size, clean, big desk cum dressing table, good tea and coffee facilities, big bright washroom

Breakfast : Very good compared to other countries 4 or 5 stars hotels that i have stayed. Wide spread of variety.

Chinese restaurant : Not so good experience once as the staff did not advise us on the portion. We ordered 1 plate of noodle and 1 plate of fried rice that can be eaten by four and there were only 2 of us.

Location: Next to a mall which has lots of eateries, shopping, Robinson Mall etc. However, this mall cannot be compared to Mega Mall which is a 15 mins walk away. This mall closes early at 9pm.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2008

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria from March 1 to March 5, 2008. Having read reviews on Tripadvisor we knew what to expect and got exactly that. We transferred here after staying for 5 nights at the Holiday Inn Galleria using Priority Club points. My rate was $120 per night and was booked on Holiday-inn.com.

After checking out from the Holiday Inn, we walked over to the Crowne Plaza for a noon check in, and were greeted at the front desk by a friendly agent. We were given our room, a Suite. As I am a Platinum member I was upgraded from the 2 double which I booked. Again we had a fruit bowl and water daily but were not offered any other comps as some of the hotels in the Chain do for Platinum members.

The room was a Large Two room Suite with an Enormous bathroom with separate Marble tub and walk in shower. The décor was bright and it was very clean and spacious. I have had apartments smaller then this room in my younger days. The King bed was very comfortable for my girlfriend and myself. There was plenty of space for luggage as there was a modular sofa and a TV in the living room, and another TV in the bedroom.

Like the Holiday Inn ( I have copied and pasted this from my review of it) ------the Hotel is directly attached to the Galleria mall which has MANY shops and eateries. We did not dine in the hotel at all due to cost of its food and the abundance of vendors in the large food courts of the Galleria. There eateries ranged from KFC, Jollibee, McDonalds, Pizza Hut and numerous local places with take out and food court service. There are also many sit down eateries. There was another much smaller mall a short walking distance away in which there is a restaurant called “The Banana Leaf”. We dined there. It was quite good and not too expensive (30$ USD for 2) and I recommend it if you have time.

The hotel charged $24.99 daily for internet (wired) ARE YOU KIDDING!! but if you take your laptop to the mall there was free mall-wide wireless- so we passed on the hotel internet as we could go have a coffee and surf if we needed to for free. There was a 7-11 across the street and a couple of 24 hour marts in the mall by the Bus station.

The MRT station was about 3 blocks of walking though narrow roadside walks I would not recommend for everyone. We used it but it can become VERY crowded and hot during rush hours. Taxi’s were readily available and very cheap if you had a driver not trying to rip off a Westerner.

The Hotel is also Close to the Greenhill’s mall where you can find all of the knock off designer Items and I haggled a Coach knock off down from 550 pesos to 2 of them for 600. Taxi is only about 10 minutes in good traffic.-------

Continuing my review---not copied from my review of the Holiday Inn

As other reviewers state the location is nice. My only negative is the cost of services such as Internet and Room service. It was kind of outrageous and the few nights we considered ordering we looked at the menu, then each other, and decided to go to the mall and spend 20% of what we would have on the room service.

I agree with the former reviewer “The Answer”. The daily rate at the Hotel IMHO was great. I have stayed in many Crowne Plaza’s not nearly as spacious or nice in worse locations and paid 2 or 3 times more then the cost of this hotel. In fact if you used the Internet and ate in the restaurant it would not be hard to have your charges for these things surpass the charge for the room in one day.

I would recommend this over the adjacent Holiday Inn by a landslide if paying but if would not use points for the stay as the normally obtainable rate does not justify this. We would stay there again if in Manila - and most likely will visit again in the future.

  • Liked — Qaulity for the room rate of this property is unsurpassed
  • Disliked — Ammenities Way Overpriced versus room rate.

Booked 2 deluxe rooms for ourselves & a friend we were hosting for our 10 day stay in MLA. KT has Platinum Elite Status & I have Gold Status so given a Non Smoking Corner deluxe grande for his upgrade & a deluxe room for our friend. Upon our 2 AM check in, was personally welcomed at the door by the Night Manager who has helped us several times during our numerous stays in the hotel. We were escorted to our rooms in no time & our friend was also upgraded to a corner room. Room was very spacious 50 sq m. - (as big as our entire downstairs here in Tokyo), clean, marble bathroom had separate tub & shower stall toiletries ( smelled to manly though) & we were given full Platinum benefits- welcome drink upon request, chocolates, daily fruit basket, countless bottled water replaced, turn down service.

Breakfast buffet had ample choices with fresh mangoes available upon request. There was always something new to try every day. Wait staff very helpful. One senior chef even made me a plate of garlic rice even when it was not in the menu.

Depending on who you caught in the Front Desk, they would do just about anything for you. Had some issues with PC & was always assisted by the gracious & knowledgeable FD staff.

We were invited to go see the Executive Floors & checked out the Lounge which was very small & had limited F& B offerings. Shown their rooms & was not impressed with them either. Not worth the extra $30++ in my opinion.

We had a vehicle with us & the valet staff took care of that for us whenever we had to leave the hotel. No charge for that.

Having the Mall attached to the Hotel made shopping & replenishing supplies very convenient. Hotel was also close enough to the Podium Mall, Mega Mall, Shangrila Hotel all within a 5 -10 minute drive depending on traffic.

Just a couple of issues we had to deal with - booked for Airport Transfer who left us who was instructed to wait for us since our friend came in a later flight which was delayed. Original driver left us but after an hour found another van to take us to the hotel.

Expensive daily internet connection was offset by a discounted weekly rate & credit given for 2 days when the system was down.

We enjoyed their hospitality last summer & then again this time around. Definitely our home in Manila. Thank you so much.

This was a grat hotel, I am a priority club member, and I was upgraded to a huge 1br suite, large tub, shower, the vanity any lady would dream of. The king bed was a tad hard but comfy pillows, great city view. The living area was spacious and it had wired intertet at a cost of about $10 per day. Next door to mall, ATM machines, TGI Firdays and other activities.
Was very happy with my stay here and will stay again. A tad further from the airport than staying in Makati so add 15 extra minutes to the airport. Taxi was P350 to the airport, about 45 minutes in the morning traffic to airport.

  • Liked — Security, and proximity to food, mall and bank
  • Disliked — A tad far from the airport

Having stood an hour in line at the passport control on arrival, and dodging through the countless metal boxes moving along the roads at incredible space and tight corners, it is a welcome to walk through the entrance of the hotel and be done with the speedy check-in to quickly enjoy the comforts and confines of the lush room and peace within the walls.

A good shower - which is always the case in this chain of hotel, is the remedy to wash off the stress from the airport.

I thought the buffet spread for breakfast and lunch was superb, at least that was my opinion.

The 7-corners Restaurant, named for serving 7 different cuisines, provides ample mouth watering spreads from Japanese, Indian, Continental, Vegetarian and local delight although it would have been nice to have more local spreads. The stewed pork was outstanding, and so were the fresh seafood selection of natural oysters, mussels, cooked prawns, etc .... The Japanese selection fares average unless you are a die hard Japanese food must-haver - be prepared for not-so-authentic-and-on-the-light-side for the soups and savoury.

The service in general is acceptable unless you happen to expect butler service. I would give this department a thumbs up as my request for a harder pillow and other stuff were duly complied with without fuss. It also helps that all their staff speak good comprehensible English.

The shopping arcade - Robinsons - accesible from the 3rd floor is very convinient.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a get-away in the heart of Manila, but yet close enough for some decent shopping.

  • Liked — Away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
  • Disliked — You have to get through the hustle and bustle to get there.

Excellent location. Adjacent to Robinson mall where one can find a grocery store, drugstores, lots of restaurants. Within walking distance to SM megamall. In a very nice and safe business area.

Room: hotel is fairly new - spacious room - clean with comfortable bed.
Bathroom clean and had separate bathtub and shower stall.
Safe deposit box in room -- large enough to hold a laptop.
Coffeemaker in room.
Friendly, courteous and polite staff.
Internet access in room for a fee.
Will definitely recommend hotel to friends/acquaintances.

The location of this hotel is perfect; right in the middle of the city. It's about $1-$1.50 cab ride to Greenhills and maybe $4.00 to Makati.

The staff is great and the rooms are clean. The hotel has an entrance to Robinson's Galleria which is very convenient for travellers who need toiletries, groceries, etc. Although the mall itself is not the best compared to the rest.

The breakfast buffet is not very interesting. The choice of food was not that great. Probably will not appeal to American and European guests.

Otherwise, the room rates are quite inexpensive compared to the other hotels.
