This was my first water spa experience in Manila. I used a promo voucher from CCP (at a discounted P298) at United St. Pasig branch. Regarding this visit, I have my raves and rants. To date, the only thing i've ever tried is the traditional onsen in Japan. Here, they have the heated herbal pools (similar to onsen) scented with int, lavender, jasmine, and a lot more. It would've been relaxing and pleasant, except for the stress-inducing piped in music. Mushy ballads -old Whitney covers, Celine Dion, etc. The decor was not to my liking - fake plants all over, cheap tarpaulin signs, hot pink LED blinking lights, giant cutout 'ACE' styrofoam logo on the wall...oh well. Not really very 'zen' or spa-like...but more of a family water theme park with hydrotherapy machines. Anyway, to me, the most enjoyable machines were all the moderate jet massage contraptions - the bubble bed, all 'bubble' machines, rain acupuncture, jet chair, foot massage etc. After trying all the machines. I enjoyed drifting in the lazy river. I liked being dragged by the current, while hanging onto a floater. The hard hydromassage machines were a bit too painful for my petite frame. However, the variety of hydrotherapy machines is impressive. I haven't seen anything like them so far. I also like the fact that there are several lifeguards on duty. They're really friendly too.
Over at the locker room - My swim shorts weren't acceptable so I was forced to rent their spandex bike shorts, P100. "Only spandex allowed" Another disappointment - with a steep entrance price, the establishment didn't even bother to provide a free clean towel. It's for rent at P150. I can buy a towel for that price. The required Crocs footwear looked scary to me e.g. it's something I wouldn't be comfortable wearing, knowing that they're shared with strangers. At the locker entrance, I smelled a strong deodorizer (I am allergic to strong perfume) Some shower stalls smelled of urine...so altogether my locker experience was not good. They can definitely improve their service in this area.
I would go back just for the hydrotherapy machines which can relax those tight problem areas considerably. I'd also go back for the heated herbal pools. Plus, I finally found a heated lap pool for swimming, not far from where I stay. I might be back just for this.. :) Hopefully it won't be crowded. :)
