“Historic & peaceful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012 via mobile

The place is very historic, after all it's the start of Pinoy history as we 'western' people know today.
It's also very calm & peaceful inside, nice place to get away from the Manila craziness for a while.
And you get to learn all about Rizal, the national hero. His shrine & execution area is inside.

“A rare glimpse of the historical Philippinnes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

A nicely preserved part of the Spanish heritage in Manila. The uniformed guards add a special touch, and it is great fun to take photos together with them. A real gem in the sparse tourist offering for tourists in Manila. The surrounding area needs to be improved, and you need to take care not to be hit by a golf ball when scaling the walls of the fort.

“A Tour with A Special Friend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

We hired a Calesa and was toured within the walled-city but the most awesome is the Fort Santiago where I was in awe looking at the memorabilia of our National Hero, Dr Jose Rizal. The famous books - Noli and El Fili and preserved in the Rizal Shrine. This is really marvelous and good for elementary and high school students. I suggest, a good tour guide inside the shrine should tour the visitors and explained a little what impact and influence those memorabilia has on our history and the country in general.
