The Manila Chinese Cemetery used to be an amazing place and merited a feature episode in Ripley's believe it or not. (see my previous review) Sadly thou, the Manila Chinese Cemetery have started to deteriorate due to neglect and the changing times. Apparently, the management was leasing out tomb space for 25 year periods. And there were quite a number of surviving relatives of the deceased who opted not to renew. Thus you'd see rows of wonderful mausoleum and suddenly have 1 or 2 units that were desecrated with open tombs and informal settlers occupying said unit that has become dirty and unkempt.
Rows and rows/ layers upon layers of tombs that were arranged like amphitheater seats with nice manicured lawns are now full of over grown grass and open tombs.
It is such a sad sight. Hopefully, management would realize what's happening to the once beautiful cemetery and take action to restore it back to its old glory and grandeur.
