Went at Silang, Cavite, stayed in Tagaytay and decided to visit the famous Taal Volcano which is few kilometers away from the highway. Taal lake can be seen in some parts of the road going down the lake. 2 men approached us when we reached the resort and negotiated for a boat ride going to Taal Volcano. We settled for P2,000.00, put on our vests and hit the lake with their big size boat good enough for 6 people. When we reached the foot of the mountain,it wasn't what i expected to see. There are about 5 cottages, few souvenir stalls, Tourism Office and several horses. One has to ride the horse in order to reach the crater which has a lake in the middle. Horse rental is P450.00 plus entrance fee which is P50.00. Bottled softdrinks is also a bit expensive at P100.00 for 2 small bottles. In order to attract more tourists, may I suggest that payment for boat ride going to and from Taal Volcano be decreased. They advertise its unlimited boat ride and free cottage (we found out its really free because it was provided by the local government) but its actually to and from the volcano only, no sightseeing in other areas making the fee expensive. Besides, if you will just stay in the cottage or "kubo" in their so called "resort", you will not see any interesting view , only the feeling that at least you have set foot on the volcano though you did not see the crater. Paying P2,000.00, P1,500.00 or even P1,000.00 is not worth it. Even the P500.00 for the tour guide who will just tell you which boat to take is not reasonable. So if we want more people to go to Taal Lake/Volcano and not just view it from the highway then let us revisit our Tourism Plan/Project and make the boat ride, tour guide fee, horseback riding, etc reasonable and not expensive. It's good the people there are hospitable and kind especially the owner of the souvenir stall where we bought our shirts. I observed we were the only local tourists, the rest are Koreans. TIP: if you just want to see Taal lake and volcano, you can view it from the main road. No need to spend much. But if you want to go to the volcano then prepare to spend
