This is a very interesting trip loaded with history of World War 2. Being in Malinta Tunnel, where men worked and had a 1000 bed hospital with nurses and doctors, one can wonder how these people kept their sanity in a dark, dank claustrophobic space. It had to have been much worse for the sick. The tour was enhanced by a superb guide (Carlos) who was personable and knowledgeable. Sun Coast runs a professional tour and the boat and crew seemed first rate. The boat is accompanied by one Philippine Coast Guard officer and one Manila police officer, one of whom had a machine gun or some type of assault weapon. There is both air conditioned inside seating or you can go up on deck. The freezing cold AC was a welcome relief from the very humid air. Important to know there are two bathrooms on board as well as bathrooms at every other stop . They took pictures at one of the sights of each passenger like the pictures taken in nightclubs. I was pleasantly surprised that they were very reasonably priced- I think 100 pesos or $2.20 whereas at nightclubs and shows they are at least $10. There is a buffet lunch included. I have one minor criticism. They have water and soft drinks for sale on the boat and on the tram. After paying over $50 for the tour perhaps they could give you a bottle of water or a Coke which cost from $.25 to $.50 in Manila. I took a similar trip in Viet Nam and they had complimentary cold drinks and fruit on board throughout the entire trip . Finally, although I took a giant dose of Dramamine based on some reviews, the boat was very smooth in 3 foot swells.
