very crowded and can't concentrate on the mass and in worshipping God due to the busy environment. the iconic statue of the black nazarene makes this a must visit church.
This Church is worth visiting if you are with a group of locals. If you are a foreigner do not be tempted to walk through markets near by...it's not safe for you.
This Catholic church is very popular, especially among Filipinos who are devotees of the Black Nazarene. I believe they have 9 masses daily and more on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
It is always crowded any time of the day, any day of the year. Friday is always "Quiapo Church day" so expect a lot of traffic along the area on Fridays.
We went to visit this church when the Quiapo Markets were in full swing. Wow! The atmosphere was vibrant with colors, sounds and smells, all good! The church by contrast was very peaceful. The church is beautiful and is home of the Black Nazarene, which is unique. You must see the church and all the more exciting if you go when the markets are on!
The area outside the church bustles with street vendors selling cheap junk, which sort of cheapens the church. As Jesus said, "The Father's home is not a marketplace."
