“Interesting, chronological artwork”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2015 NEW

I visited this museum a few weeks ago during my last few days in the Philippines.
The building is grand and beautiful, and the artwork is very neatly organized into rooms by period/influence so that you tour can be chronological (which I love).
I saw quite a few beautiful pieces, an exhibit of plant sketches that were commissioned in the early 1900s, and a beautiful contemporary mural.

There is no cafe in the museum.

I really enjoyed the visit which was not very long (approx an hour and a half), and as it is close by (walking distance) to Intramuros I would recommend doing both in the same day. Jeepneys run right on the main road that the museum is on to many places in the city.

“Spoliarium is stunning!”

Nice to go here and learn about the art of the country. It is fully airconditioned and easy to navigate around.

“Not much to see here!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2015

Very sparse museum, but, pottery & jewelery display was good... There was also art on display but I did not see too much to get excited about... YMMV...

“First visit to the National Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2015

The entrance is 150 for adults but still worth the price because the building has just been renovated and fully-air conditioned. Seeing the Spoliarium was the highlight of my visit.

“Wonderful Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2015

Wonderful and apparently unnappreciated museum...to judge by the handful of visitors there. Elegant building, very spacious....in fact lots of empty spaces...most museums that size would have 4 times the amount of exhibits in that space. Displays mostly well let with explanations in dual languages. Room of Islamic Arts and crafts was stunning and very informative displays on colonialism and th Spice Routes. All in all a MUST DO. when in Manila.
No refreshments nor shops that I could see...but work is going on so they might be creating some, The website is hopeless, but it is open 10 to 5 except Mondays, and I think that Sundays are free addmission
