“Mother Of All Churches”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2014

Newly opened after more than two years of renovation, retrofitting, and subsidence prevention, the Manila Cathedral looks sacredly beautiful as ever. The see of the Archbishop of Manila, it is called the 'mother of all churches in the Philippines'. Full of historical accounts since it was a parish church governed under Mexico in 1571 until became a cathedral that undergone several reconstruction until 1958, many changes had be been made both for purposes of reinforcement and beautification. Aside from newly installed bells, added features include new LED lightings, wide screen TV, improved audio-visual systems, and installation of CCTV cameras.

“An Impressive Building.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2014

I have been here several times, it's extremely atmospheric when a service is taking place and its packed to the rafters with worshippers. The touts outside can be rather tiresome as they pitch for tours around the old city. Frankly Intramuros is a disgrace, the oldest part of Manila and yet totally neglected.

“Grandest Cathedral in the Philippines”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2014

This is probably my most visited church in the Philippines. I used to hear mass at the Manila Cathedral when I was still a kid. I received my first three years of formal education in the nearby Catholic School and at that time my father's office is just a stone throw away. Back during my High School days the Manila Cathedral was a favorite venue for religious activities sponsored by the Student Catholic Action (SCA), Archdiocese of Manila. This is where I first saw His Eminence Rufino Cardinal Santos. Likewise, it is a popular choice for special events like baptismal, confirmation, weddings, etc. The solemn ambience inside this church is simply divine.

“Tastefully refurbished”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2014

For foreigners staying in Manila for a few days - this cathedral is highly recommended to visit. If they are Catholics & want to attend the services - they have a beautiful music for Sunday masses. Google its historical significance.

“Nice but couldn't go in”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2014

We had this as part of our tour around Intramuros but unfortunately there was a wedding taking place and it was suggested not to go in because of respect to those attending. From what we were able to see from the outside, it was a beautiful cathedral so it was too bad we didn't see all of it. I see from other reviews that it is wonderful on the inside too so I would recommend for others to go in if they can.
