“not impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2011

I had doubts about checking-in at Bayview because of the awful comments here on Tripadvisor. Nevertheless, I tried it out since it fit my criteria of being budget-friendly and close to the Pyromusical venue.

In fairness, check-in was a breeze and a room was available for us even if we were there early. I was happy to find also that the rooms had the usual amenities such as toiletries, towels, personal ref, electric kettle, cable tv, hairdryer and a tub!

BUT...the cigarette stench was unforgivable and there was a leak from the bathroom ceiling going straight into the tub. We called housekeeping to make the stench go away but the it stuck really well to the room. Kudos to housekeeping for their prompt action though.

My stay at the Bayview was acceptable. It's location is it's biggest asset and but it could definitely use a major upgrade. I'm just happy that the mishaps during my stay were not enough to destroy my purpose for staying there in the first place.

We stayed here for one night. The room was ok, but it had a wierd smell. The staff in the reseption were very rude, presumptuous and impolite. They did not seem to care for the guests. We came with the night flight to from Saigon to Manila, so we arrived early to the hotel. We had to wait for 7 hours to check in. The breakfast is not included and is very expensive. You also have to pay to use the wifi in your room and in the lobby. i would not stay here again. It is ok for a stoppover, the food in the restaurant was good and there is a starbucks cafe next door.

It's always a gamble when visiting an hotel for the first time. I'm really pleased to say that the Bayview delivered what it promised, nothing more and nothing less. It's so good to arrive at an hotel and recognise the frontage as what was seen on the webpage. The rates were reasonable so you expect 'reasonable' service and standards. The Bayview didn't disappoint - good start to a well earned break.

GOOD: location overlooking Manila Bay
near Robinson's Mall, Ermita
not far from Mall of Asia
modern rooms, well-equipped, water and water-cooker, hairdrier
comfortable armchair when watching TV or the view
pleasant and good room staff and breakfast staff
BAD: reception staff tend to be arrogant and unhelpful.
breakfast is too Asian and you always have to queue for toaster and food
UGLY: they tried to rip me off by demanding 1000 pesos for early check-in! If the room is available it doesn't cost any more for them to check me in early. When I comlained vigorously reception said I could check in after 1 hour without paying extra! I dislike them trying it on!

On arrival i was shown a card by the booking clerk who stated i would have to provide an P10K £120 GBP deposit for my room
the room was in need of redecorating the bed side lamp was broke and the television gave a poor picure
the aircon did work but a little noisy
the pool is small but good forcooling off and relaxing in the pool patio was concrete floor with lastic chairs and tables
the male staff had an obsession of staring at the female guests when in the pool which made not only my wife but most of the female guests very comfortable
the service was poor to the faulty towers level
on leaving the sign for mthe depsit request had disapeered and i was given ten centienees =2Pence UK money
NICE SCAM
DO NOT STAY HERE
one plus point the restaurant staff had made an effort to make a decent cup of tea

high budget hotel. expensive. but plush and worth it.
service was good. cheerful staff.

breakfast was sumptuous. the hotel is very close to Rizal park (with its musical fountain). It is easy to get a cab. but bewarned - the road gets filled with traffic jams at peak time.

I had a reservation for 6 nights and had to depart after just two days. The rooms are archaic as are the amenities. The front desk staff are quite possibly the most poorly trained and inept service industry persons i have ever come across. Day two of my stay there was BROWN water for my shower. As i was leaving early for another property (Bellevue...which i STRONGLY recommend) There was a line up of literally 12 guests all of which were complaining about various items....all to a group of young lady desk staff that were completely incompetent in their handling of the various situations. It is a third world hotel.....
