“amazing hotel in amazing place”

i was planning a trip to a agency in malate manila and looked around for a hotel nearby. i read some horror stories about manila, the airport, the place and was a little concerned.I booked pan pacific hotel malate on line and arrived last sunday the 6th january and stayed 5 nights before returning to dubai where i work and live.
the airport is a little old but the baggage reclaim and customs and immigration was smooth.
it can be a bit caotic outside but they do have a area alphabetically arranged so you meet someone under a certain letter or the yellow taxis from the airport are all metered so no issues.

the hotel is beautiful check in was smooth and i stayed on the 19th floor with fantastic views. the pan pacific restaurant on top floor is where breakfast is served and also evening time it is a nice restaurant with stunning 360 degree views of manila and the bay.

i didnt use the health club but the pool area and gym looked in good condition,

All in all the service, attention to detail and facilities make this a great 5 star hotel which i would reccomend for anyone

The area has many people trying to sell you viagra rolexs iphones or their sister! lol however it was not a hard sell and a simple "hindi"(tagalog for no ) would suffice You are under more threat from jimmnys their local small busses and the uneven payments and roads.

At no time did i feel uncomfertable, except for the people who live with children on the street just surviving is a challenge.

Their is a great shopping mall three minutes walk away called robinsons mall and prices are very very competetive .

Their are some areas more appealing to single male travellers but that could be any city in the world.

in conclusion a exciting vibrant area inhabited by filipinos who have a spirit and a smile to overcome any issue

Room Tip: higher floors above 7th floor are excellent the room nos are after the floor so i was in 1901 which...

The hotel staff are average, the butler service is average, be careful as the butlers always want to fully enter the room when your wife is still in bed, this is a major concern.

The house keeping never place breakfast menu in the room and each day i have to ask for another menu.

general things like tissues are not replaced or the ironing board is not put away when the room is serviced

The room is based on 2 people but only have 1 chair for us to share a meal together.

Location not good and safety around the hotel at night is of major concern

Another pleasurable week's stay around Christmas 2012 period.
Took the family for week in sun. They enjoyed very much the pool area with Jacuzzi as well as the buffet breakfast.
Had a suite on 16th floor which had nice lounge and large bathroom. King size bed very comfy.
Good WiFi connection around pool as well as in room.

As always all the staff are very friendly and helpful - This is the hotels strongest attribute.
It is in convenient location for the Robinson Mall with large selection or shops and restaurants albeit the 5 minute walk is down a busy road.

Took airport white taxi from NAIA and then used hotel car back to NAIA. More expensive than normal taxi but at least you know its clean and hassle free.

good location with nice rooms we were in a large room amazing bathroom fantastic views good service.breakfast is very overpriced so make sure to include in room price.the pool was really nice staff were helpfull would stay here again

We have recently spent one night in this hotel, primarily because it was centrally located, good to reach from the airport, and offered a very good rate (<100 Euro). I would describe it as a good world-standard business hotel. Rooms are tastefully and modern designed, and clean. So are the other facilities in the hotel.
Service was overall OK, though fro Philippine standards I have to say not outstanding. Slow service at the bar late at night, a little disorganized breakfast buffet, and they botched our airport pickup.
We were there with our kids, where this hotel appears to be frequented by a different kind of crowd ... it is located in the entertainment/bar district of Manila. If it doesn't bother you to share the breakfast room with a crowd of older gentlemen and their very young Filipina "partners", this is probably one of the best choice of hotels at a good price in this area of Manila.

My wife & I stayed for 5 nights including Christmas. Overall very impressed with the service and the hotel in general.

While there are some other larger and newer hotels in Manila, the Pan Pacific checked out well based on traveler reviews, and upon fronting up to the reception, seemed to offer a more personal approach.

We found the service, restaurant and culture of the hotel to be excellent. In particular, the house maids always attended the rooms, and the mirrors were kept perfectly clean. Staff were courteous and polite and generally relaxed. The butler advised initially that tipping was not necessary which was a pleasant surprise as it can get tedious after a while - much easier to tip once at the end rather than continually..

Other guests seemed relaxed and polite adding to the atmosphere. Some of the staff including Ana at the restaurant/bar, and the gentlemen with the dog on the lead out the front went out of their way to be pleasant and friendly each day.

Would gladly go back..

Well,this is our first time here and 1st time to spend new years eve away from home and relatives.During the inquiry the operators,reservation is satisfactory good.coz of this reason I decided to booked on this hotel expecting I'll get the same satisfaction during the reservation process but a total disappointment when we arrived.During the reservation I mentioned my room preference where the the reservation officer was very honest to inform me that they will try their best to grant my request but no guarantee...We arrived round 2:30 a little late from the check in time but so disappointed to find out that our room is not yet ready and needs to wait for 45 mins to get it ready.I asked the butler the reason and the answer was they are fully booked and what they preparing was the room that I requested.So hearing that I felt a bit relieved,at least they are preparing what I requested a non-smoking city view room.I requested it for I have kids with me and wanted to witness some fireworks outside.After 45 mins I followed it up but still not ready.We actually had our room ( non smoking room- yes but the view??? View of the back of hotels and other establishment at the front on the hotel...a dissaponiting view where we couldn't even see a single fireworks...)b4 or past 4 pm but actually not fully ready for my daughter needs to use the bathroom.They told us that they will bring our luggage to our room but after 3x of follow uP and after I told the room boy that my baby needs to have diaper change maybe we won't be able to have our luggage immediate.I called up the butler again for the tickets in the new years party w/c is already included in the package but after so many follow up still nobody has ever tried to bring it to our room.The people in pacific lounge are all good at least there are people there who knows what customer service is all about.From the reception up to the chef they were all friendly and very accommodating.Thumbs up to you guys and thumbs down to the receiving butler ,though they said sorry when they handed me the key the sincerity was never felt.I guess,you need to be a prominent people so you could get there 5 star treatment too.For they were really apologetic even followed that person to the elevator.Im just wondering is there money different from mine?Well,just an observation.
