There was a shorty visit to Manila on schedule. Inbound ex Hongkong by Cathay Pacific Saturday late afternoon and managed the hotel shuttle to pick me up with the hotels front desk.
It doesn´t work at all. Why?. It´s the Chinese New Year celebrations weekend and a good number of roads are closed around the hotel in the middle of Chinatown. Well, they offered me another shuttle at the airport from a hotel in cooperation with Ramada. But I´ve declined and done a metered taxi instead. A good job by the driver, with the main roads closed, he goes some smaller roads and delivered me as close as possible to the hotel.
A top floor room was requested and level 12 was sure ok with me, managed by a nice young chinese woman at the front desk without a minute to wait.
The room with a real good view to the festivities down there, not to noisy, sure ok with me and also good for a well nights sleep later on.
Large, well modern style furnishings, two separate beds, a working station and also a large bathroom. Shower only this time, but ok here. Everything clean and well maintained.
But first join the festivities which are loud, colourful and really somewhat special for the western traveller.
A short night till breakfast wait´s for me. Available from 06.00 am.
More chinese style here, but also some continental details available, also ok to start the day this way.
Some more pictures in the morning, check out with close to no time to wait at noon.
Done by a really nice young man, well done.
The bag is stored for some more pictures till 3.00 pm when the free hotel shuttle runs to the mall of Asia. Sure a different place to explore but also close to the airport.
Spend some time there, done another cab for as low as 100 Pesos and arrived well ontime at the airport for the flight back to Hongkong on Dragonair.
The usual question for the downsides:
The chinese music from the floor in the morning is not that really to my pleasure, but anyway I´am in Chinatown, so that seem´s the standard here!.
