“It's more fun in the Philippines with Uncharted Philippines!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

Right from the first email, Uncharted Philippines were professional, helpful, informative and flexible with all of our requests. We was able to combine two trips together the Ifugao and Hertiage of Cordillera to create our personal and private tour. Our guides were Jun and Zean who were both an absolute delight to meet and spend time with. Both offered a great amount of insight into the Philippines and made our trip very memorable.
The tour was fantastic, very well planned and organised, they have very high standards and ensure that these are met.
Everywhere we stayed was immaculately clean, comfortable and the home stays very welcoming. Of course depending on where you are in the Philippines this may or may not include luxuries such as hot water or air con etc..
The sights you get to see and experience along the way are breathtaking. We like to to travel away from the mainstream tourists and by travelling with Uncharted Philippines you get to experience this. We used local transport where possible which included some fun and adventurous trips on the roof tops of buses. They took care of everything for us, all we had to do was enjoy the ride. I urge anyone who is planning on visiting the Philippines and is looking for guides or a tour to be put together whether its for a few days or a few weeks to contact these guys, you will not be disappointed.

“A "must do" if traveling to the Philippines”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

Long story made short: Unchartered Tours made this arduous trip from the U.S. to the Philippines more than worthwhile; it was a trip to share and remember for a lifetime! And it wasn’t just what we saw; it was how we saw it. Our guides were professional, hospitable, informative, genuine, and took pride in their effort to immerse us in the whole experience. By the end of the trip, we not only had tons of pictures and memories, we had new friends. [By the way, the cost is very reasonable and probably paid for itself by avoiding tourist traps and opportunistic vendors.]

I had to travel to Manila on business, and my meetings were staggered at the beginning and end of the week, so I had two days open in the middle of the week to do something fun. My daughter was on Spring Break from college, so I wanted to invite her to join me and do something special.

I contacted Unchartered Tours less than a week before I flying and requested a custom tour (which they readily accommodated) telling them we were open to modest activities, enjoy nature, and would like to see the coast. If you’ve ever been in Manila in the past decade, you’ll understand the desire to get out and explore; the traffic, population density and economic disparity can drive you crazy in Manila. You won’t escape all of this on your adventure, but you will get a broader appreciation for the Philippines. Of course, an adventure is what you make of it, so keep your mind open and soak up the experience.

They picked us up at our doorstep at a hotel in Metro Manila early in the morning, and the adventure began. We did the “Best of Batangas” trip. Their website gives a pretty good description, so check that out. But it was a much richer experience than even they describe. For example, they mention traveling by car to Taal Volcano, but they don’t mention the interesting conversation and cultural education to be had on the way. Also, they mention hiking to the Taal Volcano, but they don’t mention that they do it early to beat the crowds and heat, and how the return boat ride is a great way to cool down. They mention Taal Town, but they don’t mention sitting in the courtyard of a 1500’s heritage house while being served an afternoon refreshment. They mention the Marine Reserve, but they don’t mention the incredible sunset that greets you when you arrive. Etc., etc. All this made for fun surprises along the way.

On our return drive to the hotel, we were exhausted from all that we took in. It gave us time to reflect on the incredible mix of history, culture, economic disparity, natural wonders and diverse architecture that we saw. We arrived at our hotel in the early evening, and my daughter gave our guide a hug goodbye. That might say it all.

“3 days, 3 guides, wonderful experience at Mount Kibungan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2014

A trip is only fun if you have a great photographer, good chef, good tour guide, funny people... and it happened that these people that led us through Mount Kibungan had these characteristics! Specials thanks to Yob for leading me and my friends in a team as he not only made our experience wonderful, but he has also helped in decreasing my fear of heights through constant encouragement and support. Will go back to there if we ever have the chance :) Lets go to beaches next time, maybe? :)

“Best part of my trip to the Philippines!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

This is an amazing trip! It incorporates why I flew 1/2 way around the world! After an overnight bus ride way north, we were greeted by our tour guide, Jody. He took the 3 of us that were on the tour (I was traveling with a friend, and there was a solo traveler) up to an inn to get some breakfast and wash up. We had about an hour or two. We took trikes (mopeds with sidecars) to are starting point, a little further north. We put our packs on and the adventure began. We had a long day of hiking in front of us, and we started in the jungle. Awesome!
One of the greatest parts of this trip was we didn't really see other traveler on the trails... So it felt like we were the only ones having this experience.
The hiking was more challenging than I expected, which was fine, although I would seriously consider the hiking sticks as mandatory! Once we were out of the jungle and saw the rice terraces, words and pictures cannot describe how amazing these things are. Jody gave us a history of them, and pointed out the different things that were grown. We came across some villages where we learned about how the houses were build without nails, and shown how rice was broken down. The village inns were comfortable - especially after a day of hiking!
Best advice, go for it, get the hiking sticks, and remember to look up when you are walking, or at least stop and take it all in.

“Great trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

Spent the first 2 days of our trip to the Philippines with them. It was great; they made sure we were well taken care of and took us to a great place for local food. Would travel with them again on another trip.
