“Good Price, Good Location, Good Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

I was really impressed at the quality of this hotel for such an affordable price. The room was actually quite large and I never felt cramped with the exception of the bathroom. A word to all the other Americans out there with well-endowed derrières, you may not fit properly on the toilet sitting down. I thought that this was hilarious and didn't mind sitting crooked, but aside from this the location is great and is only a little ways from the LRT station. There is good food around, it is within walking distance of Intramuros and other sites and parks, and overall I really enjoyed my stay here.

Was booked on booking.com for 2500 a night, but when I arrived, there was a promotion for 2200 per night, so I took the walk-in promotion and cancelled the booking. There are some "stunners" working at the main desk. The rooms are modern, but small and dark. Beds are comfortable and the room was quiet. There are a lot of fast food restaurants in the surrounding neighborhood within a couple hundred meters, such as McDonalds, Jollibee, Chow King, Inasal, etc. The hotel breakfast was quite good, but they prefer you to select the night before and choose a breakfast dining time. This isn't enforced. It seemed like they have a number of trainees doing some of the housekeeping as many hotels have these days, due to all of the nearby University programs in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Rizal park is only a few minutes away. The hotel is under 200 pesos from the airport using a metered taxi even in moderately heavy traffic. The wifi was good and included in the price.

Room Tip: I stayed in 2 rooms and both were adequate.

Casa Bocobo is an okay hotel as far as the rooms are concerned. But the customer service and english of the staff is just awful. The area around Casa bocobo is one to avoid at night though.
If you can speak tagalog it would be alot easier to communicate with staff.

The staff are courteous and helpful. No elevator. Dark hallway and you cannot get any reading inside the room since the lighting is bad. No mirror in the room, only in the bathroom. They charge early check-in per hour. They only provide bar of soap, shampoo, towel and toilet tissue. Very close to the Luneta Park, and walking distance to a mall. Breakfast was mediocre.

We needed a place to stay near St. Luke's Extension Clinic and US Embassy. We booked this hotel thru TripAdvisor for a really good deal! Rooms are excellent and clean! Staff are always accomodating, helpful and friendly. Restaurant in the lobby serves excellent food as well. Hotel is walking distance to Robinson's Place Manila, Luneta Park, ATMs, 24-hour convenience stores and fastfood, and many other restaurants. It's also near Manila Ocean Park (few mins cab for $1-2). This place is highly recommended!

Casa Bocobo is a decent budget hotel. It was clean enough and had ok rooms. The beds were good and the staff were polite. The wifi has some issues with dropping out at times but generally was decent. (Speeds between 100k and 500k).

A comment about the area however; it is very rough. There are lots of homeless people around and you will be asked frequently for money or if you want a ride. There isn't really much around the area to do apart from a couple of shopping malls and Intramuros. If you think you might be uncomfortable in a bad area then consider paying more and staying in Makati.

My suggestion for the hotel would be to put mini fridges in every room or at least put an ice machine on each floor. It was more annoying that I expected to not have a fridge.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road. I had one on the back alley which was quieter.

We've stayed at the Casa Bocobo for one night, we got a room on the third floor, which was quite spacious, had AC, but the second we stepped in the room, the heat hit us with around 40C, and smell of dampness. The location was a ghost town after 20:00, but it's close to Intramuros and Robinsons Mall. We paid around 2750 PHP, which is a lot for what you get. I suggest you go see the room first, and then take it. Staff very friendly and helpful!
