We stayed here for just one night purely as a transit accommodation. The hotel is in an older part of Manila and just beside and around Paco Park but some taxi drivers had a problem in locating it. That aside the hotel is an old property but most of the rooms have been refurbished in a satisfactory fashion. My relatives has a room on the ground floor or first floor as they call it and I had an enormously large room on the third floor. The rooms and bathrooms decently clean. There is a small pool for some sort of lap work. Internet or wifi quality will depend on the location of your room please be aware of this. If it fails….sit at the lobby and work.
The standard of service of the young female reception staff who although were very polite, is sadly lacking in terms of general knowledge of locations of attractions, directions and the geography of urban Manila…- and also not very exposed or street smart. Taxis can be hard to come by in this area…so make sure that your get the staff the book you a taxi in advance….and then do follow up again and remind them. On my day of departure I had asked them the night before to book me a larger taxi due to the number of pieces of luggage we had. We reminded them in the morning again and they said it was confirmed. The taxi failed to arrive and we had to have the security person walk out to the next road to hail a taxi. This caused us to nearly lose our flight.
The crown jewel of this cozy hotel is its restaurant My Kitchen by Chef Chris, who also owns the hotel itself. The restaurant is one of the top in Manila and said to be serving the best Italian food. I got the chance to meet him and told him how super delighted we were with the dinner there. Breakfast …ala carte (not included in our room rate) was also superb except that the fruit juices I felt were not freshly squeezed.
Would I stay here again….probably a yes and primarily because of My Kitchen
