My second stay at this hotel, first stay was a few years back and the renovations have done this hotel good. The rooms and facilities are much better, one caveat however was that I specifically requested wifi-connection with my room upon booking just like my first stay as I knew from experience the wifi availability was spotty. When I first stayed at The Oasis they were quick to change my room as soon as I said wifi connectivity was essential, on my last stay they told me they had some trouble with the connection and that someone would come and fix it, that never happened in the 7 days I stayed there, nor was I able to change room despite numerous requests.
Apart from the wifi issue the food was great, probably the best food I've had in a hotel in Manila, albeit quite pricey, most menu items cost over 700 php. Cleaning staff were especially hospitable and the doormen and security would always assist in getting a metered taxi (as opposed to the first time I stayed in which they would just get me "hotel" taxis who would not use meter).
Location is a little outside the most central areas but Malate can be reached for about 50 peso. My Filipino friends have commented on the safety of the area of the hotel, Paco, but I dont think safety is of any concern in the vicinity of the hotel itself.
One more thing that I noticed was that in-room furniture/amenities were different between the different deluxe rooms, my room had no mirror (nor did I get one despite requesting it several times), no couch and no information booklet/room service menu/phone number list, my friends room, on the other hand, had everything. Sleeping quality was another issue, as this hotel seems to inhabit quite a lot of families, young kids running around screaming in the hallways at 6 in the morning could be an issue, some of them were also ringing other rooms doorbell for then to run away. I could hear one other guest get quite upset over this as he was yelling at the kids for waking him up.
While the room and amenities have improved a lot, I think I enjoyed my stay at this hotel the first time more than my last visit.
