“Excellent hotel, average food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

We stayed for 5 days at the hotel in the course of a conference, and had a great stay. The rooms are large, beautiful and luxurious with the most modern of amenities. The staff are extremely helpful though some were a little drunk on the job!! (One of the staff brought his personal electric adaptors from his home when none was available). The hotel property, pool, attached beach and general ambiance are awesome. The food however was a bit of a let-down. The breakfast and lunch spread were depleted by 5-star standards and the waffles were persistently burnt.
The location of the hotel was idyllic in its beauty and isolation and the beach was truly private. However it came at a price. The centre of activity in Mahe Island was at the other end of the island and, public transport being almost non-existent, you are at the mercy of expensive cabbies. However the hotel helps organise good rental cars for you.
It's definitely a paradise, an awesome paradise, which comes at a rather hefty price tag, even by European standards.

The beach front and the pool gives this hotel a high rank for me but the room pulls me back in giving 5 for this hotel. The place is very nice and very natural. I love the beach with all the coconut trees around. But when i entered the room, i feel like it's not what i want in a hotel room. I can smell the old furniture and it's not squeaky-clean as i expect it to be. So i think it depends on how you want things for you. I know it's adventure and nature tripping there but for me, i still expect the room to be flawlessly clean. On the other hand, the hotel staff were all friendly and nice. They will attend to your needs as quickly as they can. I bought a souvenir magnet in their shop and for whatever reason, the legs of the turtle magnet was already broken. The breakfast buffet was also good with a lot of choices.

This is definitely 4 V or 4 * (not even 3*. This hotel has a wonderful beach with a few dilapidated sunbeds on it which you have to hunt for, no parasols. Some fout parasols around the pool three of which broken. Only 27 beds to 127 rooms. In common parts ie restaurant and bars the furnishings were filthy, o/s the decking was a health and safety nightmare. Broken glass panel at the front of the restaurant facing the sea. Rooms in dire need of maintenance, ie scorched light shades, scratched furniture, broken lights, frige cupboard door faling off, front door which did not fully open, hols in net curtains, curtains coming adrift. Turn-down in the evening occured on two of our 7 nights' stay. Staff in great need of customer service training. Uniform non-existent, one waitress had safety pins in her blouse, one served us with food spilt down her polo shirt. Service overall inconsistent especially in the bar. Had to order and collect drinks from the bar. Food was of low quality, ie green tomatoes, unripe or tasteless fruit. Not enough protection from flies, I had to ask someone to take a dead fly out of the mayonaise one evening. A/C on or off, could not adjust. I could go on and on. Gardens in desparate need of maintenance. The Management were courteous to our complaints but could not offer anything better, we had already been upgraded! Food for lunch over priced and often inedible.

Room Tip: This hotel should be closed for refurbishment. We are in dispute with Virgin Holidays and the hotel...

Visited the hotel for a business purpose,Hotel need some maintenance,Inspite being a SPG member for a long time not recognized,When asked to add the points into the membership no idea for the staff ok thats fine.
After checkinn had to go foar a long walk to the room,In the room as per the lemeredian standards amenity provided are below average,Anyhow after a quick nap went for a walk good view from the lobby,But service staff terrible,
No guest in the bar and 3 people standing and chatting,When asked for a drink its not served as per guest request.OKOK.
Now comes the main thing ordered for a club sandwich it was over price. After 10min the lady waiter says food cannot be served as there is no time,So cancelled the same order and paid for my drink and went out to check on the grocery for a quick bite..
On the way back the waiter calls me for my club sandwich which was on the bar counter.Told her it was cancelled she did not understand,Fine asked to serve the same to the room which was refused and had to carry on my own with no cruet/ketchup etc...
The room lock needs service when going out the door lock does not latch...
BAD for lemeredian...

Room Tip: 1st or 2 floor ocean facing..

We just returned to work after a splendid holiday at Seychelles

The hotel was wonderful, beautiful location, lovely food and a friendly staff

Mr. Mohammad was very helpful in doing our check in and showing us the rooms, he checked with us every day asking us how our day went and what we did
He even gave some of his inputs for the places to go and beaches to visit
He is surely one of the staff to be treasured

Mr. Jonathan had arranged a spa voucher for us but unfortunately we could not utilise it as we were out on day trips and Spa was busy
But next time for sure we can do something

Thank you to for making our stay up most comfortable, the room was awesome with a spectacular view

The big thank you for all your restaurant team as well as we enjoyed our Breakfast and Dinner for all the 3 days at the hotel

Room Tip: All rooms which face the beach are complimented with a beautiful view and sound of the waves ads to...

The hotel is also located on the "other side" of the island, a trek over the mountain with no other hotels or restaurants nearby, limiting our choice of a quick outing for dining. This is a matter of taste though, some may enjoy the seclusion. We took the bus, which leaves every hour into Victoria. It's an exhilarating experience as it goes hurtling round the bends. Car rental is another option.

We have stayed at other Le Meridien hotels before, and this one was just ok.

On the plus side the staff were friendly and greet whenever you pass, there were times when we were misunderstood because of the language barrier. Breakfast starts at 4:30am so you can have something to eat before you go on a trip, free wifi in the loby, and the beach is relatively secluded... be careful of the rocks and coral though.

However, there are few details that seem to be over looked, for example, had to call a few times before our room was cleaned, bottled water provided only on arrival (non-standard practice), food and other items really expensive, weird policies and deposits on beach equipment (snorkels etc.), shortage of beach towels although this happened only once on our stay. Breakfast was a bit monotonous, although you could get omellettes and fried eggs, but dinner was much better. In our room the safe didn't work, although the hotel knew about it, and said it would be fixed...

You get the impression that with a little bit of effort and some attention to detail this hotel could be exceptional.

I have stayed at this hotel for business travel on two separate occassions and unless there is no other vacancy on the island, I will never stay here again. Oh, where to start....

Over priced
Smells like a zoo
Rooms are dirty
Beds are uncomfortable
Over priced

Beyond the hotel premisis, there is very little to do. This means that you are locking yourself down or driving a lot to explore the island. Since there hotel is the only game in town, they charge exorbitant prices for all food and drink.

The second room I stayed in had years of dirt and cobwebs built up in the overhead space by the shower, despite the fact that it was easily reachable with a dust wand. The smell is not as noticable when the wind is blowing, but as soon as it dies down and the humidity creeps up, the waste from the feral cats is overpowering. I support allowing animals to roam the area as long as they are spayed/neutered to prevent overpopluation. To put it in perspective, I have lived with cats for most of my life, but the cat box smell is enough to drive me away.

While the hotel photos look nice, about the only positives are the pool, the little cove/beach, and the wonderful morning breakfast buffet that is included with the price of the room. Other than those two items, I would avoid this hotel unless you are looking for seclusion at a mediocre hotel.
