“Beautiful Beach..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Hotel location was beautiful, the beach and pool were also fantastic, however the hotel decor was quite tired, and looked for older than its 6 year actual age. Rooms were adequate, my in laws stayed on the first floor, and they had terrible shower pressure, which eventually gave up completely on the last night! Prices within the hotel were horrendous, £6 for a bottle of local beer which cost £1 200meters down the road in the supermarket, and as we didn’t have breakfast on the first day included we found out it was £22.50 per person for a buffet. Food quality and staff service was variable, great in places, and ok in others, however when they got it right they really did!

Although there is alot negative above, this part of the holiday was still fantastic. The views, the sea, the beach were all fantastic, the weather was beautiful and it was very relaxing. There was a private beach with a snorkelling area which was really great too, however if future customers were looking at this place I would recommend you let them know it is slightly tired as a hotel ( management stated that upgrade work would be carried out in 2013.. but we will see) its more of a 3 or 4 star hotel than a 5, definitely.

Some of the staff are worth mentioning. Jonathan, who was one of the duty managers was on hand to listen to our concerns, and was happy to help us out. Mervin, on the concierge desk was always really helpful and friendly, and deserves commendation. There were also a couple of waiting staff, whose names we cannot remember who were always helpful and smiling.

Room Tip: we preferred the ground floor room, easy access to the pool, and the room seemed larger than on the...

The location is scenic. The private beach is ideal for a lazy evening stroll.
The room was very spacious with fantastic view.
Hotel staff was very friendly.
The hotel was extremely generous with out check-out timings.
While the choice is limited, food was delectable.

The breakfast buffet menu remained the same throughout the period of stay.
Equipment for activities such as Scuba diving was not available at the hotel.
Window locks in the room did not function.
Room service was not prompt on few occasions.
Should have more restaurants.

The first two nights of the five we spent at this hugely overly priced hotel were sleepless. The hotel's main lobby/dining area is open to the sea and air, and so the extremely loud, bass thumping music from the private parties kept us paying guests in the hotel awake until around 0300'ish hours. Then there's the rooms and general condition of the hotel. It feels like the worn out set of an old 1960's James Bond movie and some of the furniture/drapes still need repairing from the action scenes. Couch cushions were ripped and torn, the drapes were dirty, a few of the beach chairs were broken, our room phone didn't work, the food was cheap (there was a lot of pasta and rice) and the list goes on. It's really hard to believe that Le Meridien considers this part of their chain of luxury hotels. Begin HINT - does the main office ever send someone out to make discrete, anonymous inspections of the installations that bear their brand name? End HINT Anyway, there are lots of better options in the Seychelles so look around. I hear that there are plenty of nicer 1 or 2 star hotels (Le Meridien Barbaron qualifies as a bad 2-star option) that charge a whole lot less, let you sleep at night, and treat their guests like they are important instead of using the facilities to host private, all night, loud parties (paying guests be darned). I hear that the Kempenski can provide real luxury [and is quiet] while on the other end of the scale you can get a small villa for yourself at around 60 euros a night. Bottom line, this hotel is not worth the money or stars but the Seychelles themselves are beautiful and extremely well run. What a nice place!

Room Tip: If you have to stay here then get as far away from the main lobby/dining area as possible.

We booked this hotel as a group of us were attending a wedding in Seychelles and upon reading the reviews on here, I was very worried. Kept my fingers crossed and just hoped everything would go well and everything went well.

The drive to Le Meridien Barbarons was about 20-25mins from Mahe airport, we arrived very early in the morning and I must admit the drive was very scenic as we had to drive all the way to through the mountain and down to the bottom of the mountain. The narrowing winding roads were a bit scary but it seems most of the drivers were used to driving these roads.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we had to wait for some time since we arrived in a group and it was an early check-in so we could not complain. I thought that was very nice of them for the early check in. The staff at the reception was very nice, helpful and accommodating as arriving as a group can be sometimes chaotic, but they handled it very well. They were also helpful as my husband had a throbbing pain on his left leg from the flight on our way to Seychelles and when we arrived, the hotel management was very kind to provide crutches for him, and then they recommend the nearby hospital where he was able to get treatment. That was really helpful of them.

I loved the lobby/reception as it led up to the wide open terrace by the beach front. Although you could see some signs of ageing on the ceiling and certain places, but these did not impact our stay at all.

The rooms were spacious and nicely set up with some rooms offering balconies. The property reminded me of a tropical vacation home I stayed in Africa so I had nothing to complain about it, however the housekeeping could do with some cleaning around hidden corners by the sinks and bathtub.

The beach and roaring sea was a great plus for the property. The hotel had 3 restaurants and dining at the restaurants was just OK…. It was also nice to sit down early in the morning and have breakfast by the beach.

All in all, we had a great stay and thanks to the hotel team for taking the extra step to make our stay great. The guys at the reception were awesome and very helpful.

I arrived ate as the plane had been delayed- there was a bit of a wait before check in as there was a mix up in my booking but the gentleman who greeted us was really very kind and helpful. The room was nice and comfortable although could do with some attention to details eg the curtains seemed a bit overused and could do with a replacement. Free WIFI is only available around the lobby. Food for breakfast and dinner was fine and of a fair variety. The awesome part of this hotel is the beach and the roaring sea and indeed having breakfast on the beach daily was blissful!

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms are good and easily accessible from the beach and the swimming pool.

We stayed in this hotel for a week (beginnin of November 2012) and we had a very good time there.
We found the staff very friendly, accomodating and guest-oriented.
The food was varied and very good. We had full board accomodation and we could appreciate all the specialities proposed by the chefs of the two restaurants.
We would surely recommend this hotel to someone looking for a valid accomodation in Seychelles.
