I have just had the most amazing trip to the Full Moon Resort in the Maldives. I travelled there on August the 9th for my honeymoon a present from my sister and it was a piece of paradise. We stayed in a water bungalow and it was the most magical place ever and every penny well spent. The magic of having the ocean right outside your bedroom door is a sight everyone needs to see at least once in their life and the bath overlooking the sea is the most amazing experience. We were booked full board, which I recommend to anyone who is planning to go here. The food is 5 stars and above and I especially recommend the pastries. As you are on a island there are restaurants that are available, but from the prices on the menu it could work out to be very expensive if you are not full board.
The staff on the resort could not do more for you, they are all very friendly and are always willing to help…..especially when my husband was missing playing cricket and the catering staff asked him to join them playing cricket in there living area……what more can I say!!!
I recommend that if you are going to the Full Moon, then you should do some of the island excursions as it gives you the opportunity to see other islands. The dolphin curse, the full day island hoping and the trip to male are ones I highly recommend. A small tip if you plan to go to Male go there once and have a guide, but do most of your present shopping when you go to the full day island hopping as the things are cheaper as long as you barter with them!!!! If you don’t find anything then go the Male again cost around £12 per person, but do not take a guide. Male is so small so you will not get lost!!!!
The only thing that may disappoint you is that there is no night entertainment at the resort so it is either go to the bar/restaurant or go to your room. As much as that sounds tempting some night you really want to sit back and watch something or do something!!
The weather was wonderful even though it was suppose to be rainy season and every time I checked the weather report before leaving it was always cloudy, but I can assure you it was lovely – sunny and hot all week.
One last downfall, which had nothing to do with the Maldives or the full moon, was the flight. We went on Monarch airlines and the first disappointment was at Gatwick, where we were told that there were no seats together and as a newly married couple a 12 hour flight sitting behind your husband is not a nice experience. The staffs were very rude and informed us that Monarch believes that sitting together is sitting across an isle or behind each other!!! The other downfall with the flight is that a 12 hour flight with very basic equipments and a charge to drink or eats snakes is a little strange……. So in the long run try not to flight with them as you will be very disappointed – thankfully the actual resort made up for it all.
So overall if you are going to the Full Moon I recommend it as it is an experience of a life time.
