We (family with 2 young kids) spent a few days in June 2008 at this resort. We stayed at a beachfront deluxe room. Our first impression of the room was that it was immaculately designed and maintained. A lot of effort has clearly gone into maintaining the property and completing the finishing of the room and bathroom (which was equally well done). The best part of the resort was the beach itself, which had truly white sandy beaches (not rocky as some others - one could walk into the ocean for quite a distance without any problem because of the calmness). Our young son (almost 3 years) loved the beach.
There was a well appointed bar (small) situated on the far side of the island on the beach near many of the rooms that made it very convenient and they were serving tourists right on the beach! That way, we did not have to walk to the main bar all the time.
Particular mention should be made of the fish feeding at 6.00 p.m. daily, right outside the main bar. We saw one of the employees hand feeding sting rays, eels and baby sharks, among others.
Restaurants - there are 4 in total (main offering buffet; a thai restaurant; a cafe and a sea-food restaurant). Here is the negative part - all food (except breakfast) is extra and is UNUSUALLY EXCESSIVELY PRICED! Full moon is located just 10 minutes from Male and so, as the resort has to lug all materials only a very short distance, unlike other resorts that are much farther away. It would seem that the resort has truly adopted the practice of "whatever we charge, tourists will pay" motto!
The excessively high prices was reflected in all other items including bottled water, drinks etc. No free water of any sort is provided at any restaurant. All bills automatically add a 10% service charge and had an optio for a tip. When we enquired about the reason for a tip, despite having a service charge, we were informed by one of the waiters that the service charge was actualy consumed by the management and hence, the tip was extra. We felt that such excessive charges were unnecessary. There is a sushi bar in the evenings, but again, enormously and unjustifiably expensive.
Quality of food was very good overall. The thai food was specially notable and we went there twice. The buffet at the main restaurant (lunch and dinner) was passable at best (price - around $ 45 per person for just around 6 - 8 dishes for lunch).
The spa was located exclusively on a smaller island connected by a bridge. It was nice, well maintained and clean.
Employees were friendly and helpful. Overall, a very good experience except for the unusually excess charges. We would go back again, but only on a super-good deal!
