Alila Hadahaa is truly a distinguished resort with breath-taking beauty. The island is quite small probably 200 sqm in diameter, surrounded by the infinite stretch of the sea giving you a sense of seclusion but never allowing you to feel trapped. The water is crystal clear and the sand is white and fluffy which means you can stay barefoot all day long. It is an absolute disconnection from the hustle and bustle of city life.
An Alila representative received us upon arrival in Male, and checked us in the domestic terminal to Kadedhoo, only to be met by another representative who escorted us to a speedboat to the resort. The staff are great and very efficient and make your trip absolutely hassle free. Refreshing cold towels and welcome drinks are offered upon arrival and then we were taken to our villa by the villa host.
Villa
We spent 4 nights at the Island Villa with pool with a stunning view of the beach and were very impressed with its minimalist design, luxurious furniture and especially with the resorts environmental awareness. The pool was big and was attached to a large and very comfy daybed. Two private beach loungers are placed just outside your villa in front of your private stretch of beach.
Activities
From then on, you have numerous activities to chose from. We snorkeled on all days and on each day we saw something new. It was incredible that 2 meters into the water outside your villa you can see live coral teeming with colorful pretty fish (snorkeling equip can be collected upon arrival and kept for your entire stay - complimentary). We also did 2 SUBA dives, one in the house reef and one further and both were extraordinary. The coral were dense and very diverse that it really felt we were in a coral jungle! The instructor Chika was great and so much fun! We also kayaked (complimentary use) around the island. Also went on the fishing trip, maldivian style i.e. string, weight and hook plus tuna bait, at sunset which was remarkable, everyone on the boat caught at least one fish, my husband managed to catch a huge white snapper weighing over 4 kg. What impressed me the most was that the restaurant cooked the fish for us less than an hour latter. The fish was marinated in-front of us, put in the oven / fried and decorated, it tasted divine - highly recommended, definitely the highlight of our trip. We also enjoyed the spectacular sunsets as well as gazing at the multitude of bright stars at night. Had we more time at the island we wouldve gone on the cultural tours to nearby islands, tried the spa and complimentary fitness/yoga/core training classes, amongst other activities provided by the resort.
Food
The food was delicious, we tried everything from their chicken curries, pastas, to sandwiches. I highly recommend the pad thai noodles and the green papaya and mango rice rolls. The breakfast can be ordered from a menu at Relish restaurant and was always of supreme quality. Snacks were served with tea at Batuta restaurant - complimentary and then a sweet snack was provided at turndown. Which really means you will buy dinner only. Although I must say that the prices are very expensive, an appetizer would cost $15-25 while a main course would cost $20-40 and desert $18-25 per person.
The service
Very personable, the staff are extremely friendly, generous and are willing to do anything for you, the answer was never no. It is truly amazing. The guys at the restaurant always knew our personal preferences and provided them. My husband asked for a sheesha and 10 minutes later it was there! The guys managed to get one from a nearby island. Also when relaxing at the beach, we were provided with ice-cold water, refreshing towels and a drink - all complimentary! This is definitely first-class service.
Thank you Alila Hadahaa! Special thanks to Ihsan, Ahmed, Hamood, Chika, Saed, Chef, and Faseeh for making our holiday an unforgettable one.
