Staff is very friendly and helpful but the room is disastrous, there were only a sheet on the bed, no blanket or duvet. The shower's door was broken and could not even be closed. The towels were grey (white) and dirty. I am just so glad we only stayed there for 1 night on our way back home.

We flew into Maldives later in the evening and missed all the island transfers so we had to pick a hotel in Male for one night. This is alright for that kind of situation. It was one of the cheapest ones in Male (in Maldives standards), we paid around 110-120 USD a night. No frills, they do have an AC and a TV, and close enough to the commuter ferry (a cheap cab ride to the dock).

Yes you have to take a ferry or boat to get to Male from the airport and back. The commuter ferry was very convenient and quicker than I expected (about 15-20 minutes one way). It cost about 1 or 2 USD per person so it's not bad.

My wife and I stayed at Marble Hotel for a night while in transit to our resort, which is a common practice for most tourists since flights to Maldives generally arrive late in the night.

While the island of Male is small, Marble Hotel is literally located on the other end of the island from the jetty, and since there are not so many cabs on the island itself, it took us a good 45 minutesto walk to the hotel on our arrival in Male since the promised transfer from the hotel was nowhere to be found when we arrive, even though this was clearly indicated on the hotel's website and that we have provided all our arrival flight details.

To make things worse, when we arrive at the hotel, we were told that there was no record of our reservations, and that the room type / rate we had booked for does not exist! Lucky for us, I had printed every single documentation from their own website when I had placed the reservations, including their tariff sheet, email correspondances with one of their hotel staff, etc, which I had to show to them to prove that we indeed had a booking at a pre-agreed rate as indicated on their website.

Another thing to note is that you should not be fooled by the beautiful pictures on the hotel's website. As far as I could tell, the only place where you could probably get a decent view of the ocean is from the cafe located right on the rooftop of the property, since the hotel is located relatively inland.

Breakfast, which is included, is rather decent, if you take it with a pinch of salt that the continential set is about the only choice available after they show you a menu with about 5 choices of set, place your order, and only to be told time and again after about 10 minutes that your choice is not available -_-

Finally, when it comes time for check-out, it totally baffles me why their credit card POS Terminal for the USD transaction simply could not work, but their one for MRF could. So be it that I will be suffering multiple exchange rate conversions, but does anything work properly in this hotel?!

I guess I made a wrong choice in choosing this hotel, thinking that it looked good on the website and that the reviews on the other Male hotels weren't that attractive. But mark my words, no matter how unattractive the reviews on the other hotels may seem, their locations which are right in front of the jetty should pay off since most tourists stay in Male only for transit. Don't bother staying at the Marble Hotel, it simply isn't worth the hassle and the frequent rise in your blood pressure.
