“Traders great sky bar pool view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

Came for a short hop in kuala lumpur and happy we are staying only 1 night,Kl is a city that is 1hour from the airport and very disorganized not the cleanest but seems safe. The hotel is centrally situated great of course for the lovely sky bar view of the Petronas, the pool is lovely but water was chilly but hey go for the view! Rooms nice and a very nice comfy bed nice big restroom,a bit on the pricy side for Malaysia but you have one life to live... Enjoy!

Room Tip: Need to upgrade if you wish a Petronas view simply go to the pool ans sky bar instead

We spent 2 nights here in December 2012

Plus:
- beautiful Petronas view
- great location
- very good and tasty breakfast buffet
- good sleep quality

Minus:
- I ordered and was confirmed a twin-room and I repeatedly reminded our evening arrival to the hotel. Despite it any twin-room was no available, only kingbed-room.
- we felt some unpleasant smell in the hallway (13.floor)
- no cleaning room during our 2nights staying!

Stayed here in Jan 2013 for 5 nights. Rooms are very spacious and well kept, with very large bathrooms. Unfortunately our room faced south, so we had views of apartments buildings rather than overlooking KLCC park and the Petronas Towers.

The hotel is in a convenient spot if you want to explore KL. It's only a short walk to many of the major shopping centres in Bukit Bintang - including the Pavilion (one of the best spots in the whole city) - and is right next to KLCC park. The hotel also offers complimentary shuttle service (on golf cart) to the Suria KLCC shopping centre, but we never timed it right to use it. If you miss it, best bet is to walk there via the air conditioned lobby of the convention centre rather than sweat it out in the heat. The closest LRT station is KLCC, which is about a 10-15mins walk from the hotel, and the closest monorail station is about 10mins walk away. Taxis are always available right outside the hotel (concierge will also tell the driver where you want to go) - upto you what you want to do, but if you want a cheaper ride, always use the red sedan taxis. The blue "executive" ones are more modern and comfortable and much larger, but normally cost about twice as much. On taxi's - be warned in KL: If you are in a tourist area, most drivers have unfortunately taken to trying on extortianate flat fare offerings which are normally about 4 times the price of what a metered cab would cost - the worst places being from Chinatown, Petronas Towers and Bukit Bintang. Also ask for a metered cab (Chinese drivers seem to be the best for accepting this).

The crowning glory of the hotel is the Skybar on the top floor. The pool is surrounded by day beds and lounges and has an amazing view over KL. If you want a seat near a window, get there early (before 4pm), as it gets very busy towards the evening. And after 7pm when the pool closes, the place turns into a full blown nightclub. The service up there is very slow, and most times we visited we had to wait in excess of 15mins just to get a drink (the bar also has daily cocktail specials), but if you can put up with the wait, you will enjoy and relaxed atmosphere with stunning views.

Room Tip: If you want a room overlooking the Petronas Towers and KLCC park - you need to get a room facing NOR...

The location was excellent and everything is nearby even the Petrona Towers. For breakfast there were lots of choices. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The Skybar was enjoyable, played good music and served tasty food. My daughter left her purse in the safe after we vacated. I called the hotel, they checked, found it, sent it to the UK via DHL and put the cash into my bank. Would definitely go back, people were very helpful, welcoming and overall we had a brilliant stay. Also we had free wifi n the rooms, which the kids loved and used to FaceTime their friends back in the UK.

We stayed here for one night when in KL. The hotel is great, it is very modern and clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. We booked one of the Traders Club Twin Towers View rooms and since we arrived early (around 6am) we were shown to the Traders Club Lounge where we enjoyed breakfast. The buffet selection was massive and the food was great. The chef also made us some pancakes with strawberries. Our room was very nice, clean and large with a fantastic view of the Twin Towers. The beds were very comfy. We used the swimming pool facilities which are great. The roof top pool has views of the towers too across KL centre. Also included in the Traders Club was all day soft drinks from the lounge and afternoon tea. We also had 2 hours in the louge at dinner time and you could have as much soft and alcohol drinks as you wanted. There was wine, beer, spirits and cocktails on offer. The dinner buffet was really nice too. I would stay here again.

We stayed at Traders for New Year. Having done some research I found out that the best place to see the fireworks from is a Tower View room at Traders. Book early though - I booked back in May and there were no Tower View suites or club rooms left so we had a basic tower view room. This was still worth it though to watch the fireworks in the comfort of the room in pyjamas rather than in the massive crowds outside.

Room was quite small although we could still comfortably fit in a sofabed and cot for our children. Unfirtunately when we checked in we were told that a sofabed and cot may not be available (despite me requesting them back in May). We were understandly disappointed as it was already past our children's bedtimes but eventually we got them. It is for this reason alone that the hotel does not get 5 stars.

Breakfast was incredibly busy but amazingly well organised with the staff all knowing what to do. We ate the New Years Eve buffet dinner which was delicious and had a vast array of food to choose from. The highlight was the Petronas Towers made of cakes.

Would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again.

Dear kag80

Thank you for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor.

Welcome back. New Year's Eve in Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur is definitely one of a kind with no other to match the view of the Petronas Twin Towers coupled with the fireworks. Although there were a couple of hiccups during your stay, I am glad that all was sorted out and that you managed to enjoy your stay with us.

Thank you once again for your review and I hope to see you soon again.

The location was just perfect. It was 10-15 minutes walk from the Petronas Tower, close to other malls, Bukit Bintang.

The Sky Bar was very good & busy even on weekdays. Although the DJ wasn't great, the place was amazing: stunning view of the Petronas, excellent ambience, good drinks & crowd.

The bar was the pool during day time & a nice place to hangout.

The breakfast was a feast & not to be missed. Good variety & taste.

Rooms were nice, big & clean. Although we didn't get the Petronas view, the view wasn't bad.

We had mixed reviews for the staff.
Some of them were extremely helpful & offered great service. But we experienced 3-4 staff who had major ego issues. They would pretend they didn't hear you calling them, & just not care about anything.
