We stayed for 8 nights at the Park Royal, KL and it was excellent. We were travelling with our 9 year old daughter and were upgraded to a suite on the 17th floor which had a great view and free use of all of the Orchid Club facilities. The location of the hotel is outstanding - there are at least 6 huge malls (including Times Square which has an indoor theme park) within 5 minutes stroll. The monorail is 50m from the hotel and great for visiting China town or the Titiwangsa gardens with the new Eye onf Malaysia. Taxis are cheap and plentiful and staff were always happy to negotiate a price for us. Next door to the hotel in a lovely garden setting is an outdoor eating area where you could have a large sevre of Malaysian food for 5Rm ($2.00!). Moreover you could see the kitchens behind the stalls and they were spotless. The buffet breakfast is breathtaking with a huge selection of western, malaysian, japanese - you name it! The resataurant manager, Joe Manuel, was brilliant! We had not realised how popular the KLTower's revolving resataurant was so popular and tried to book a table for my birthday. We were politely told that the restaurant was full but a few words from him and we got a fantastic window side table. H e also organised a day at Putri Jaya for us including a driver at a pre-organised rate- 120RM (about $aud50) for the whole day! All in all I would have to say that this is the best hotel we have ever encountered in Asia and I would thoroughly recommend it. It made the stay in Kuala Lumpur thoroughly enchanting.

  • Liked — Beautifully appointed suite, great staff

We stayed in Parkroyal only one night.
Hotel has OK location, the lobby is huge, but really huge. Lots of marble and glass-just stunning.
Check in was a bit slow as staff seams to read names from hotel voucher letter by letter but they were very kind.
We stayed in deluxe room.
Parkroyal has definitely the largest king bed I've ever seen. I bet 5 persons can sleep in it!
Room was spacious and clean, contemporary furniture.
Breakfast was WAWWW but it is no surprising for that part of a world as I always have great breakfasts in Asia.
We had an organized transfer back to airport but we misunderstood the correct time for pick-up in a lobby so we showed up late. The doorman helped us get a taxi and arranged the best fare for us, he was bargaining with the taxi driver even we did not expect that so we got really good fare back to airport (which is 75km away).
A memorable stay...

This hotel has recently been revamped and is now called just the Parkroyal. We have stayed in other far more luxurious hotels in KL but this one beats the lot for location. It is right opposite Sungei Wang and BB Plaza, also Times Square and Imbi Plaza and next door to Lot 10 and around the corner from other shopping centres too. The ideal place to shop and shop and shop which is what most people do in KL. It is also very close to a monorail stop Bukit Bintang which then gives you access to other areas. You can even get to Chinatown (get off at Maharajalella and turn right) and the markets (go to the markets early, they are called night markets but actually start about 10.30 in the morning). The hotel buffet breakfast is the usual but acceptable but the buffet dinner was a bit boring after one visit. The Parkroyal Grill is still advertised but has gone but they say will be rebuilt. The pool area of this hotel (6th floor) is good but rarely used as everyone is in the shops. Service is a bit hit and miss, reception is a bit lukewarm but we did find Concierge very helpful and good advice. The rooms are usual 4 star type hotel quality, acceptable and fairly roomy but the bathroom was very dismal, the lighting was awful. The built-in robe could have been bigger, we were there 6 days and had trouble unpacking many clothes and as usual not enough coat hangers. It was a quiet hotel but the beds were a bit hard!

  • Liked — Location to KL shops
  • Disliked — Lack of food outlets
  • Tips/Secrets: — Make sure there aren't any conferences on at the time you visit KL

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and after staying in the Oriental Singapore, was extremely disappointed by the service and the room. I wanted to book a 5* hotel but apparently due to a conference in town there were none available and this was my best bet. The superior room was tiny and not really having a separate bathroom was a bit of a suprise. Having the sink in the middle of the room was a challenge. The hotel was central though which is about the only good thing I could say for it. They don't do room service breakfasts which was a disappointment as we then had to eat at the airport on our last day.

We were at the ParkRoyal from Nov 5-7 this year. We found the location for the hotel ideal. It is right across from Sungei Wang plaza and at Bukit Bintang sky train station. This makes it very easy to get to major attractions in KL.
The service at the hotel was very good. Our room rates included breakfast. The variety of western and asian breakfast dishes available was really staggering. However, my favourite was the fruit selection and the fresh fruit juices.
Our room(superior room) was small but this was expected as most clientele are business folks who spend very little time at the hotel. We loved the marbled bathroom area as it gave the whole room a very sleek look.

Definitely worth staying here if one does not wish to spend a lot of time in the room and requires a good clean place to stay. Load up on breakfast and you will be fine until dinner.
