“Brand New, Brilliant, clean, friendly, good price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

This hotel is very new as of Jan 2014. The lobby is very large and shiny, and all the staff are extremely friendly and attentive, even to us non-business young folk.

The price for this hotel is incredible for what you get (under $100 a night). From business people to backpackers just wanting to spend a night out of a hostel, there really is no reason for you not to stay here. It is right next to the Central train station, and about a 5-10 min walk to the Central monorail station.

The rooms are pretty cool, a good size and we had a nice view from the 11th floor. The bathroom was excellent and a funky design. Good water pressure and temperature. You get free toiletries too - toothbrush etc.
The only issue we had with our room (1104) was because it was so new, no one had used the water in the basin for a while and it initially came out brown. After about a minute is had sorted itself out though. Also the plug in the basin wouldn't drain very well at all which was annoying.

The pool deck at the top is very cool. The water is quite cold though, a little too cold for january. We only stayed in for a couple of minutes. The sunbeds are nice up the top, but if it was very busy there probably wouldn't be enough for everyone. Also the only less-than-good service of the whole hotel was up on the roof, the table service people just seemed less professional. Also you pay top-of-the-hotel prices up there.

Breakfast is amazing. Not only the food and beverage on offer, but the dining area too is very cool, and the staff again are great. The Orange Juice machine is terrible though, don't bother trying to squeeze your own.

There is always a different free little drink in the lobby for you to try as you pass through too. A nice touch. Good wifi everywhere too.

While the hotel is not directly near any restaurants, it is a 10min walk from Little India, which is full of restaurants and clothes shops. Or hop on a train and go anywhere you like.

If the prices stay good, stay here for a nice hotel experience.

Room Tip: Maybe avoid 1104 because of the annoying basin plug

The Aloft KL Sentral is beyond what you could expect in location, service, a unique stay, and good comfort (all for a really reasonable price). The primary reason why I only plan to stay here o on return visits is that it is absolutely the most convenient, accessible location. From the airport, all you need to do is take a cheap, 28 minute direct speed train (KLIA Express) to Sentral Station (there are no other stops, it literally goes directly there). Then just walk out the door and you're at the Aloft hotel. It's awesome. Plus, Sentral Station is where all the subways, as well as the light rails, connect so you can really get anywhere.
Convenience isn't enough to make a hotel great, though! The beds and pillows are perfect. The wifi is actually free and works amazingly (unlike most hotels! It was actually fast enough to install all the updates on my computer). The curtains are blackout curtains so you can actually sleep in late. All the toiletries are great too.
The workout room and breakfast are great too (DEFINITELY do the breakfast!).
Lastly, the staff is so genuine, helpful, and nice.
So all of these things put together make it the only place I'd stay!

This hotel receives quite a high grading from Trip Adviser fans and initially I found it hard to understand why! Check in was swift and friendly with keen and eager to please staff but the appearance of the lobby and xyz bar along with the room came across as Sparce maybe angular or basic even.
Some might call it Über Cool, Trendy Futuristic and so it maybe as it does seem to appeal to a fairly young crowd, although there was quite a reasonable mix of age groups on my visit although leaning towards the younger crowd.
However the room is of a decent size and on first impression appears basic and stripped of any comfort it does have all the usual hotel amenities like Iron, Bathrobes, slippers etc fairly comfortable bed and Free Wi-Fi .
There is no Bath but a large walk in shower and tea and coffee making facilities.
The roof top pool and bar on the top floor are probably one of its greatest assets along with the young and enthusiastic staff and it is well worth a visit .
Breakfast Buffet has a good selection of food and should satisfy most diets, the evening Buffet is also quite good value with a good choice ,but best to have a look first before deciding to try it as it leans more to Asian than Western, however there is a good selection of alternatives on the AL A Carte Menu.
From a location point of view it is across the street from KL Sentral , Malaysia Airlines desk and Emirates are just inside the door and a short walk from check in is the KLIA Express so you can check in very quickly and be at the airport within 28minutes.
There is absolutely nothing in the immediate area of this hotel with the exception of the fast food outlets in The train Station, but there is very easy access via the Monorail, LRT or MRT quite cheaply to all major parts of the city.
This would be an ideal stop over if you need early access to the Airport or have only a one or two night stay planned

Hi RichardG,

Thanks for your “Convenient” review of aloft kuala lumpur sentral.

The hotel talent work hard to delight & deliver and its great to get the feedback when we do so.

Aloft is different by design we do understand that the bright & bold modern style is not for everyone. I have noted your comments about the things to do and aloft is located next to Brickfields KL's little India as well as being near the Lake Gardens and National Museum. A lifestyle shopping center right next to hotel is also set to open by the middle of this year.

Great to read that you like the tiki moderne Mai Bar with its great views of the KL skyline.

Give us a-buzz on your next visit to that we can continue to a-muse you.

Normally I stay in MidValley, but required access to the KLIA express to get to Putrajaya, hence chose this hotel based on proximity to the station and recommendations of friends.

Location is directly next to the KLIA express station - beat the traffic from the Airport and take the train to Sentral, and within 3 mins walk, you are at the hotel. The KL Sentral station has shops, restaurants and amenities like SIM cards and topups - everything you need.

The hotel is a short walk to Little India/Brickfields which is good for a walk around, you can also reach the monorail from there.

Hotel is very clean with a modern/funky design. Plenty of space and plenty of places to chill out in the lobby including a free pool table in the lobby bar. The roof top bar (maibar) is very nice, recommend hitting the happy hour for a great view and good prices for a few drinks.

Booked an "urban" type room, it was quite spacious, certainly above average size with a large shower recess (no tub) and bathroom. Decent selection of amenities, nice fluffy robes and slippers etc.

The bed was huge, medium soft firmness and the pillows were overly soft feather style

Beware - lots of items you would expect to be in the bedroom area are actually tucked away in the bathroom - took a while to find them :)

The staff in the hotel are excellent, super friendly with excellent English - they greet you every time you walk in and out.

Highly recommended and will return for sure.

I stayed here in total 4 nights, though broken up into 2 parts.

Pros
- lovely staff who helped me book extra nights when I wanted to extend my stay
- good value for money as it is just next to KL Sentral, newish, decent size and had a good view of KL from the roof top pool
- lovely rooftop pool
- cute cups and spoons! They made me smile every time I made myself a drink
- number of nearby eateries to choice from. It is near little India.

Cons
- weird art work which wasn't so much cool as it was bad taste and somewhat toilet humour
- power points were a bit inconvenient but there were a few.
- it is KL Sentral so a few stops away from city centre.

Would stay again though as I find it kore convenient than the Sheraton in termsnof location for a traveller relying on public transport.

This was my first time staying at an Aloft and I loved the concept - imagine a more relaxed version of the W, without the pretension. It was chic while also casual - reminded me kind of my university campus student centre but with a couple of million dollars of design. Staff were young, helpful and eager. The hotel had tons of charm and a nice vibe to it.

TIP: make sure you do not fly Air Asia or Tiger which fly into the low-cost terminal which is NOT connected via the express train to Sental station. This hotel is best taken advantage of with the express train to the airport which serves the KLIA International terminal only! (otherwise the cheap dedicated buses serve Low cost terminal and Sentral station but slow and not as nice)

Rooms were great and nicely decorated - very simple. Bathroom was also good. Gym was excellent. Roof bar was just so so during the day - the staff perhaps comes alive in the evenings and during the day just seem to be 'getting ready'. $20 for a pineapple juice from a tetra pack was a rip off and the welcome drink voucher for Gold members goes nowhere. Nonetheless, the rather small infinity pool was nice at the top of the building.

Breakfast buffet was a bit pricey (usually is) but was quite good and very casual service.

I'd love to stay here again. Great job.

We stayed here for a night to celebrate our 6th anniversary. As we never been to aloft properties, we decided to give it a try. I had read where other reviewers suggested to not go too high up to avoid the roof SkyBar partying noise. Our accommodation request was met and I am pleased to say we experienced insignificant noise issues.

The highlights are:

1) Room was spacious, well organized and fantastically maintained. The decor is modern and has some lovely amenities. Wi Fi is free throughout the hotel and your room, but we did find some patchy and slow connections throughout the day. I love the design and the idea of how they put it all together; the colors and motifs.
2) Video music in the lift is such a cool idea. Even my 2 year old daughter danced to it each time we enter the lift
3) Aloft – Camp, toys & air bed for kids – made available for free upon request. However, we only noticed this service on the day we are checking out. Requested for it at 8am, and pleasantly surprise to see it already being set up at 10am, after breakfast. Both of my kids loved it.
4) Wii dancing games was enjoyable but it shouldn’t be near the lift where curious onlookers were watching us dancing. Would suggest putting it in the wxyz bar instead.

Key considerations:

1) Nametag – none of the staff were wearing nametag so this will deter guests to give merits to outstanding staff. A special shoutout to staff in the coffee house Nook who were all diligent and on their toes in making our dining pleasant.
2) Parking ticket – the hotel charges RM5 per day which is trivial but after paying RM350++ per room one would expect it to be complimentary.
3) Pool – quite a surreal feeling to be in a pool high up looking over KL but this makes the water temperature cold probably due to the winds. Management should consider installing heaters to maintain the right temperature.

This hotel is fantastic for families and I highly recommend it. Hopefully your experience will be as good as ours.

Thanks for your “New Aspiration for benchmark”

I was happy to read that overall the hotel talent were able to delight & deliver. Great to read that you liked the bright & bold design of the rooms and fast & free internet throughout the hotel.

I have read you comments about the parking and because we are in a mixed use development the parking is run by a third party. We did however ensure that the rates are competitive with the hotels in KL.

Thanks again for the review and we look forward to seeing you back in the heart of KL sentral.
