“E&O Residences - Kuala Lumpur”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

The family were spending 3 nights in Kuala Lumpur and it is always useful to stay in accommodation with cooking / washing facilities when travelling with children.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on the 20th floor. Unfortunately we had a view of a roof of the neighbouring building and the construction if a neighbouring building - but apart from that everything else about the stay was great.

The apartment was spacious, 2 en suite bathrooms and one separate toilet at the entrance, a small study and kitchenette with cooker, dryer and washing machine - which we made full use of. 2 TVs (would have been a great addition to have a DVD player). Beds were extremely comfortable.

Advice to management - they should not rush guests out of the room to clean them - we arrived late afternoon and had a four hour time difference so did not wake up until later - we were disturbed twice (once by the cleaner and once by the front desk enquiring when we would vacate the room to allow cleaning) not great when you want to relax.

The pool area was nice (apart from when I was sprayed with water when they were cleaning the roof if the covered walkway - tip to cleaners - just ask the guests to relocate when you are cleaning with water).

As other reviews have said - the breakfast is functional - nothing to rave about - would be nice to have the facility to make individual cups if tea - rather than having one huge pot of tea sitting for hours, also individual pots of yoghurt rather than having one huge big bowl.

We were easily able to walk to the KLCC and other areas - so the location of the E&O was very convenient for food outlets and shopping.

Would we stay again - yes.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool or with a view of the Towers.

Family of 4 visiting for the first time KL.
We tend to look for apartments or connecting rooms when travelling. So E&O looked like a good option.
This would not rank at the top of my list of accommodation after having stayed in similar hotels/residences in other capitals in Asia.
Conclusion is that even if it is a perfectly Ok option I would try elsewhere if I was to visit again KL. However I am granting a 4* trying to be fair to the overall balance of pros/cons.
Mixed feelings really.
Pros:
- location: walking distance to KLCC and Pavilion mall. Wide range of restaurant choice at walking distance
- nice pool for the kids
- classy apartments, very spacious and very well appointed
Cons:
- views: even though we requested high floor with views we got an apartment facing another block
- service: this is where my opinion tilted towards negativity. Always within correctness, service was distant and rather unhelpful. Quite substandard relative to average Malaysia. Reception looked clearly overwhelmed, undermanned and probably not well trained in terms of customer service
- poor breakfast in adjacent cafe
In terms of suggestions to management: training personnel on customer service and consider manning up reception specially at peak times.

Room Tip: you may not get views even if you request. Be careful. Construction work going on in adjacent buildi...

Spend the night at Tower 2. Great place. Comfortable, clean, great pool and with lots of night life within 5 minutes walk. Good value for money and definately an option if you plan to stay a little longer. Roomservice is good.
The only remark I have is that the public area's between appartments and elevator need to be cleaned regularly. Lots of stains on the white walls.

We were after an apartment for our family and stayed at E&O Residence. This is a new fully serviced apartment in KL. The apartments are huge and very tastefully furnished in comtemporary style. Full kitchen and washer and dryer. Huge pool and landscaped gardens are beautiful. Plenty of areas to chill and relax.
Apartment is down a quiet side street that has hawker food stalls set up during the week but not much there on the weekend.
Walk to Pavillion shopping centre is about 4 minutes away so quite convenient. It took about 15 minutes to KLCC via the elevated walkway.
Not all taxi's know of this apartment hotel due to being so new. Breakfast buffet selection could be better but still enough to choose from.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view toward the Twin Towers.

The best thing about the hotel is the spacious room and the price (2rooms suite).

But take note of the following items:
- BOOK EXTRA SINGLE BEDS AND BLANKETS IN ADVANCE if required!!! (no extra single beds available upon request. Fine. So asked for blankets (35RM per night), was shocked to let know thats also unavailable. After complained abit, half a hr later, they found a set for us.)

- CHECK ALL AIR CON BEFORE UNPACKING LUGGAGE- 1st night, the air con was not working in the bedroom, spent 1 hr fixing it at 11pm at night. But 2nd night, the same problem again, slept with the fan on.

-heard from local taxi driver tat the area may not be safe to walk ard in the evening and from what i observed, I agreed too. If going in a couple or a family with kids walking in the evening, take extra care. Hotel located in a small cross road

- There was a red taxi at the carpark area, asked the hotel staff to check the price for us as the taxi driver can't speak much english. after they discussed, taxi drive said RM50 from E&O to ritz. I said overcharge. But hotel staff said, Madam, the hotel is far away from here. Lucky i did my research and knew its less than 10 mins drive. Driver cut to RM30 at the end (guess its the normal tourist price). My advice: do your research and trust nobody

Others
- <15 mins walk from Lot 10, 20 mins walk from Pavilion, 30 mins walk from Jalan Alor (catch taxi better)
- Cab to E&O-blue cab from KLIA-ard RM100, 45 mins around

Read if you have time
- had some problems adjusting the bookings date on Booking.com. Emailed the hotel if they cud handle it manually. no replies in 2 days. So i was abit worried so cancelled the second session and booked Ritz instead. Then, ta da, the reception emailed me and said my hotmail email went to their junk box. But since I have cancelled my booking, they will not action further. I wrote back and ask if they could still handle it manually so to save my trouble from moving luggage to Ritz, she replied the negative and asked me to check with Booking.com instead. Not much of a service I believed.

We stayed in a one bed apartment for 3 nights and found it to be very spacious with a well equipped kitchen - there was a kettle, coffee maker, toaster, large fridge/freezer, cooker, washing machine (wash powder was available from housekeeping), a tumble dryer as well as an iron and an ironing board.

The living/dining area was open plan and the bathroom was lovely, it had a stand alone bath, shower, 2 sinks and a toilet, there was also a separate wc.

The fittings and furnishings were in good working order. The only criticism is that there probably wasn’t enough lighting in the apartment especially if you were reading at night.

The pool area was well designed, clean and relaxing and there was a good view of the Petronas towers from it. We found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly and always willing to point you in the right direction.

The breakfast buffet served at Delicious restaurant had a good selection of food – both Western and Asian, we enjoyed everything we had and the coffee was good. We actually ate here a couple of times in the evening and found the food reasonably priced and tasty.

It was within walking distance to a lot of the sights and we brought tickets one day for the hop on hop off bus which went around the major sights that weren’t within walking distance.

We would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, spacious apartment.

The E&O Residences are a stone's throw away from the Jalan Rajah Chulan Monorail Station. If, like us, you availed the (extremely comfortable) bus service from the airport to KL Central, then you can either take the monorail to the aforementioned station or take a cab, in which case the fare would be somewhere between RM 7 and 10 (depending on traffic).

The beauty with this facility is that despite being in the heart of KL, by virtue of it's being just off the main road you are spared the hustle and bustle of downtown traffic, without in any way being cut off from all the other facilities! You pull up at a security gate and once the guards on duty verify your credentials, you proceed into the building complex (there are three buildings around the pool) and walk into the reception of the E&O.

Check in was a very quick affair and we were given the swipe keys to our 15th floor two bedroom serviced apartment in no time at all. The lift whisked us up in a jiffy and before our ears could pop, we were on the 15th floor!

The door to the apartment opens into the living room which is very large (and I'm talking large despite having two adults and two teenage kids). The living room unit consists of a dining table with four chairs, an open kitchen which is equipped with practically everything you might need...electric hot plate, microwave, crockery, cutlery, washing machine, clothes drier, double door fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle...they literally threw in everything, including the kitchen sink :-).

There is adequate seating in the living room as well as a large panel TV and an ipod dock/FM radio device that I just loved because they had it tuned to a station that played 80s English music (so sue me)! The living room has sliding plate glass doors which open onto a long verandah, which overlooks the swimming pool 15 floors below.

At either end of the llving room you have two bedrooms, each with attached bath (although the master bedroom toilet is a more elaborate affair) and with adequate closet space etc. The closet in the master bedroom also has an electronic safety deposit box /locker for you to stash your valuables, instead of having to lug them around KL...

The suite also has small study which has a table with Wi-Fi, various connections for the computer and all the rest of it. Right next to the entrance there is a small toilet with a commode and a basin. Each room has independent ACs which you can adjust to your preference and boy are they effective!

Housekeeping is top notch...the bed linen is excellent and the pillows...well they incite thoughts of crime because they are so soft and wonderful that you harbour notions of filching them! All the facilities in the toilets are superb and literally shining new. The housekeeping/cleaning crew comes in during the day to ensure that everything stays spick and span. In my experience they were courteous and attentive, both to your requirements and to detail.

Breakfast is served between 7:30 and 10:30 every morning but if you land up after 9:30 or so you are likely to find that stuff has finished (and isnt readily refilled). You get choice of eggs on offer, as well as pancakes, juices, fruit, yogurt and a variety of cereals, bread/pastry items and cold cuts. The repertoire doesnt change very appreciably from one day to the next, so if you're going to be staying for longer than the three days we were there, boredom will set in pretty quickly.

The pool is large and clean, and has a uniform depth of about 4-5 feet. You have deck chairs aplenty in the area and there is a men's and women's changing room (as well as one which is handicapped friendly). The men's changing room didnt have any sort of locker facility so once you've changed, you're compelled to take your clothes out to the pool area, which is inconvenient if you're swimming on your own. I had the most marvelous timing swimming in the rain. Beautiful warm water and ice cold raindrops..nothing better! Imagine my surprise when the rain diminished to a drizzle and one of the staff came out to tell me you werent allowed to swim when it was raining! Clearly they dont subscribe to the notion that the whole idea of swimming is to get wet...hahahaha. Well I'd got my money's worth by then anyway so I wasnt unduly put out by this seemingly absurd restriction.

For those to whom it would matter there is a gym with sundry tread mills, exer-cycles, various apparatus for lifting weights and all the rest of it. Since I come from a tropical country, I tend to take my exercise in more natural surroundings and feel extremely claustrophobic in gyms, hence I cannot provide you with a definitive review of that facility!

The E&O Residences provided my family and I a wonderful experience and proved to be excellent value for money. We would certainly look forward to spending more time there in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for something on one of the higher floors
