“Hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

Checked in to my hotel late and couldn't order food as their kitchen had closed. So went out in search for some and found this one by chance. Reminded me of the restaurants back in India. The place might not look much but the food is extremely tasty and you get a lot for the price you pay. I ordered some tandoori chicken at around 1am and instead of turning me down, they made some especially for me. :D

“Really Good restaurant - free smile included!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

We spent a week at the Palm tree guesthouse and eat everyday at Nasi kandar, sometime two Times a Day! We try many dishes! Murtabak si really good, roti canaï, rôti tisu ( sweet, hum!), cheese nan, chicken curry, squid....
Staff si also really nice, take time to explain what is what on the menu.
Last positive point is the prices, cheap !!

To be recommended!

“Great food at a great price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Having read some great reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to seek out TG's Nasi Kandar.

TG's is open to the street along one side and at first glance does not come across as particularly salubrious. However, on being greeted by the friendly staff and noting the cleanliness of the kitchen as well as how popular the place is with locals, it is obvious that it is a good place to eat.

The menu is mainly local dishes with the usual arrays of noodle (mee) based dishes as well as Indian food. On our first visit we had mee goreng (best ever), plain naan (with some tasty sauces for dipping), a lamb murtabak (think Indian calzone), lime juices, two banana and nutella roti and two kopi (local coffee made with condensed milk) and the whole bill was only RM 37 (that's about AU$12). The food as excellent and the price amazing.

We went to TG's twice more and while we enjoyed it both times it wasn't as good as the first visit. Perhaps it was the novelty of the first trip or that we ordered badly on subsequent visits.

This place is definitely worth a visit. We found that the best way to get here (if coming from the bottom end of Bukit Bintang) was to turn right Changkat Bukit Bintang and then left into Tengkat Tong Shin. The location shown on Google Maps is wrong and it is actually closer to the Jalan Tong Shin end of the street.

“Great indian food!”

Great atmosphere, food wasn't fresh though. It was an open buffet, but they reheated the food for us. Overall it tasted good, must try their naan..
