Positive: This is a new, reasonably priced hotel with new fittings. We were upgraded to a King Sized Room, which was a very good size with a street facing window. Double rooms we caught glimpses of were certainly smaller but seemed adequate. The bathroom was a good size and the room well appointed, including an in room safe (crucial as it turned out - see later). You could adjust the temperature of the air conditioning and there was an external opening window which we could use to regulate the temperature as well. Good number of power points and a well lit room. The bed was very comfortable with a great duvet (comforter). WiFi was generally alright but the signal occasionally faded. Breakfast wasn't included in our tariff and we didn't eat there at all. The location is excellent, only a short walk from many restaurants and eateries including TG's Nasi Kandar, which is outstanding for a cheap breakfast.
Negative: The rooms weren't very well soundproofed for internal noise, which is pretty standard for most new hotels. Upon arrival the staff were barely cordial, although we later dealt with other staff who were more friendly. There was little flexibility on check in time which here is 3.00 pm - they do have comfy couches in the lobby though. House keeping was pretty hit and miss, with failures to replace towels and toilet paper our biggest complaints. None of these are major issues, and in general this is a moderate sized, fairly impersonal but well fitted and good priced hotel in a great location. However, unfortunately we appear to have had a couple of small, low value items stolen from the only unlocked pocket of our luggage that was stored in the left luggage room on our departure. We couldn't confirm this at first, thinking we had just misplaced an item during packing, but then discovered the absence of another item usually kept in the same pocket of the bag. We raised this issue with the duty manager for his awareness a few days after checking out and he couldn't have been less interested, advising us to lock our bags in the future (thanks for that inspired advice). He also claimed this was the first such report he had received which is interesting given some previous reviews mention theft from the rooms. The issue that at least one of his staff potentially is a thief did not seem to occur to him. Future guests would be well advised to take this into account when securing their property. This incident detracted from our stay at an otherwise adequate and well priced hotel, and we will sadly not be returning.
