“Quality hotel for the budget”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013 via mobile

One of the oldest hotels I've been into. But don't worry, For a hotel this old compared to its competitors, it's very well maintained. Wifi is very weak on our floor (18th) so we can only connect at the lobby. Breakfast is so-so.

I cannot comment on the cost as I was put up here by friends.

The room on the 8th floor however was clean and the cleaning staff took note of the comments I made on the pad regarding teabags etc.

The only think that I would comment on is that the frying pan was old and battered.

The rooms generally feel tired and are in need of a refit.

The pool is big and great for kids. Its a short walk to Ampang Park train station and a little further on are the Petronas Towers.

There is a supermarket opposite selling fresh fruit and vegetable.

We stayed in KL for 5 days which might have been one day too much city for a couple outdoorsy people. The pool was absolutely phenomenal and never crowded. Hotel is a little tired overall, but the staff are VERY friendly. The restaurant was great and we never had to wait. Both the buffet and menu items were delicious and provided a wide array of local items. Our room had a kitchen, but we didn't end up using anything but the fridge.
Only complaint was that on two days there was a red stain on the sheet (I do now know what it was). Staff changed the sheet the first day, but the second time when I called to have the sheet changed they changed the wrong sheet... not sure how, but we just ended up swapping sheets ourselves and dealt with it.
It is a solid 20 minute walk to downtown, but cabs are cheap and it's nice to walk. Their is an American place across the street that I would NOT recommend. Good atmophere, but I wasn't impressed with the food. The Arabic and Persian places though are delicious.
Have info for an awesome cab driver if you need one!

I was pleasantly suprised by this aparthotel. it looks on the outside like a 70's residential block in Vladivostoc but inside was quite nice. not 5star but we only paid 2star prices. rooms were spacious, beds were comfy and shower hot. it was clean and tidy with a good location in the embassy district. a good base from which to explore KL.

We arrived early the morning expecting to have to store our bags and wait. Pleasantly surprised that we able to check in at 10am. Reception staff helpful. The 2 bedroom apartment was sizeable and met our family needs. Clean, but did smell of damp. We we only staying 1 night and therefore were not to bothered.
The swimming pool outside was filthy and quite frankly radiated health hazard! We used a based to sleep only and that's all. We got a good deal on the apartment via booking.com so didn't feel to cheated.
Accessible to city sights via bus, foot and cheap taxi ride.
We did a whistle stop tour of city the sights and the nomad sucasa afforded us to do this easily due to its location.

The hotel is the filthiest I have stayed in outside a war zone. However, the blood stained duvet cover and sheets could make one think of a war zone. Apart from blood stains you would not want to look up into the exhaust above the oven. The electric wire from which the table lamp hung had taken on its own life – it actually grew stuff on it guess that made it a live wire for real. The wire looked like a thick woollen thread. Bugs were a part of the inventory and I chased down bug number one which was a beetle looking thing. The morning after I took the liberty to show the lady in the reception the pictures and could note that I was upgraded to a bigger bug the following day. The kettle in the room you would really not want to pour anything out of, the nozzle was so dirty that even boiling water wouldn’t pass with a minimum of assurance that you would be ok to drink your coffee or tea.
The bathroom had a merry stream of flies coming out of the drain so I made a plastic bag wet so I could cover , actually seal the drain which put an end to the merriness.
In all fairness I was offered another room but could not see the point as this was clearly a “mind structural” problem the attitude toward hygiene would not differ from one room to another.
Why did I stay? Well I was attending a workshop at this place and it would have been highly impractical to stay elsewhere.
Although the Manager was informed by the receptionist he took no contact or made any follow up with me. Throughout my four day stay there was an empty toothbrush package in the cupboard from the previous occupant – needless to say it didn’t move an inch during my stay.

Room Tip: if you get a room with a view to the Twin Tower be aware you will also get quite a bit of street noi...
