“Sadly Lacking Maintenance or Inspection.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014 via mobile

Our Superior room in the 15 th Floor shocked us in many ways. The view was great, the room huge. BUT. The cloth lounge chairs were literally black with grime on the seats, the arms and front where 10 years if sweaty grimy bodies had rested. They looked like they had spent several years in a garage where the farm dogs sleep. The bath had a piece of enamel missing, leaving a great rusty patch and crack on the base. The doors were black with finger marks. We are not clean freaks but this poor standard shocked us to the point of complaining. We had booked many months in advance. We were nervous when the premium room upgrade offered us had an equally grimly door but happily, it was clean and comfy and very large inside, with newer and cleaner furniture. Happily, the hotel is ideally located and is part of a huge, often quirky, mall. The bar lounge and restaurant on the 14 th floor is very pleasant and the pool large and refreshing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As much as it ultimately worked out well, I can't help but wonder how a hotel of 600 rooms can fall in to such a state without being noticed or perhaps cared about. Creating a unique building is one thing, adequately maintaining it another.

Dear Linda B,

We thank you for your review about our property. We truly appreciate it, as it provides us the opportunity to gauge our overall service delivery standard and products. It is with great disappointment to learn that on this occasion we have fallen short of your expectations.
No doubt our location is indeed ideal in the heart of the city and offers easy access to most things. I regret that the overall condition of the initial room and furniture including the cleanliness did not meet your expectations. However I wanted to share with you that we are in the midst of planning our room upgrades on a stage by stage basis. I am glad to hear that the team did in fact attend to your concerns.
Rest assured that there are points for immediate attention within our control and this I have highlighted to both the Housekeeping & Engineering operations teams to pay attention to, for rectification and cleaning process. We apologise for any inconvenience you experienced throughout your stay here. In the meantime should you wish to give us another opportunity, please do drop me an email, when you next travel to KL!

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mondi Mecja

First off, this hotel is in a great location. There is a mall right next door and the hotel guests have their own door to the mall. This mall doesn't have the big name stores that you will find in the Pavilion or KLCC but has enough shops (use to be the biggest mall in KL a couple years back) that contain the name brands. You will find many shoe, clothing and electronic shops here.

Anyway, back to the hotel. This hotel is very large and has many floors. There are 6 lifts and cater very well for this hotel.

Our room was clean and large. Yes, the interior needs updating to maybe a modern look, but the current interior is in good knick. The bed was a bit hard, the tv was from the 1960's and the need to turn the water heater on and off was inconvenient.

The pool between the towers is great. Kids will love this very large pool.

We only ate there for breakfast once and were expecting big things after reading numerous reviews, however we left disappointed. There were many options for asian breakfasts or middle eastern but not much for the westerner. Yes u could eggs but but no bacon, sausage or even hash browns. The fruit was either rock melon, green melon or mandarines. Plus it was very busy and cramped. We actually ate in the mall for the second breakfast.

Overall, I would return. It is close to KLCC and the pavilion (walking distance - 15mins) and is attached to a pretty good mall. Don't expect a modern layout but what it has is well kept.

Room Tip: Request a high room and possibly on the Twin Tower side to look at.

Dear Bucky1981,

I was happy to read your review of the hotel and pleased to hear that you have enjoyed the room and the location as well as our facilities and the pool. We believe in welcoming our guests with warmth and care, and I am happy to hear that your experience was of a positive one. This feedback will certainly inspire the team to be outstanding in their service delivery. I was surprised to read about the breakfast choices that you had experienced during one of your visits. Our daily buffet breakfast has a wide variety of dishes available for our international guests including sausage, turkey ham, beef bacon, potatoes and Asian porridge or noodles, on rotation daily. We also do have choices of watermelon, pineapple, papayas in addition to other types of fruits, including yoghurts and cereals. Nevertheless I have shared the feedback with our team of chefs for their onward action. Once again thank you for sharing your stay experience and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the not too distant future! Please send me an email, on your next trip to Berjaya Times Square Hotel.

Thank you.

I was there with my family and young children, the reception and the staff in general so proffisional.
The location, the mall, the services around.
The cleanness, every thing will ask you to come back, and that what I did.

Room Tip: There are rooms which Petronas tower view. I advise to choose one of those.

It was my second stay and I chose this hotel because of her central location, and the convenience of being near the drop off and pick-up point for the Spore-KL-Spore coach service.
Liked the large room layout with shower/bathtub separate from toilet/bidet.
Sofas/carpet in room could do with refurbishment, and the gym better located so as to offer the city or garden or pool view.

Our 3rd stay at Berjaya, this time we stayed for 9 nights. Unbeatable location, big spacious room, great view and close to everything! The local food, great restaurants, shopping etc, you name it. We stayed in the superior deluxe studio, well worth the extra $. Whilst the deluxe studio is not a bad set up, some of them are definitely looking a bit tired. The staff were fabulous, Evelyn, Helen and esp Karen are forever helpful. Our housekeeper did a good job with the room, he noted that we do drink a bit of water and he made sure we never ran out! Breakfast was good at 7th Ave, no crowd, very relax atmosphere. There was a couple of issues, the lifts, a bit slow especially when the hotel is busy! Saw quite a few frustrated guests waiting, as it happened to us as well a few times. We used to get free carparking at the hotel during our stay, whilst we didnt have a car, we do have visitors on the odd occasion. We were not informed about the $8fee per day until the 3rd time when I requested for a car park ticket. Surely the hotel can subsidise the small carpark fee? These are only minor issues, and I will definitely be returning back to KL again to visit family and friends, chances are we will probably stay at Berjaya again for all the right reason!
