“Not Good”

Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur

Sep 30, 2008

please be aware when you arrive at this hotel that you will be met with the most misrable reception staff that it has ever been my misfortune to meet.

We arrived at about 12pm having spent the most fantastic 10 days in beautful surrounding in Langkawi, only to be met with a set of faces that could turn milk sour.

1. 20mins after arriving were allocated room thought great we can now go explore. wrong when we arrived at room were being re vamped no beds, no carpet no nothing.

2. back to reception waited further 20mins couldnot find any rooms available, where given voucher for drink, went for drink only to be greeted with another sour face, the voucher only entitled us to soft drink, could we put the difference and have a beer NO! NO BEER!. ok sat and enjoyed soft drink.

3. this was now 1.20pm went back to desk to ask how long, look of digust on mans face, and was told that check in officially was not until 2pm and I was lucky that he was trying to find us a room.

3. 2.15pm were allocated rooms went to rooms only to find that they had not been cleaned and the whole floor was in the process of having thefloors varnished. The friends that were with us were in the oppersite side to us and there room had not been used or cleaned since JULY.

4. The only person that seemed to know what was going on in the hotel was the Bell Boy who took us to all the roooms he went down stairs and we were given room no 3 ,lets see what this is like, OK carpets stained but we can live with that, went to find friends who by this time were two floors down there room OK.

5. By this time it was 3.15pm went out to explore, came back at 5.15pm having been cought in the rain that appears every day at roughly the same time Guess what Key does not work having
been assured by reception that it would. Stood dripping in front ofroom while little man went to look for master to open door.

6. Everything OK on that day, went out following day, got back into room to change and take shower, Guess what NO TOWELS stood dripping for the second time on hotel carpet whilst ringing housekeeping for towels 15mins later towels arrived.
went to make a cup of coffe , No tea, coffeee or milk, by this time had given up.

we arrived at 12 noon to find no rooms were ready for us
after 20 minutes wait they gave us 2 rooms
we got up to floor 13 to find the carpets, beds etc all in the corridor due to a refit
down we went to reception ....
2 hours later and with a soft drink voucher !!! we were given two more rooms ............. up we went to floor 7 both rooms dirty not cleaned and stunk of carpet glue, varnish due to refit on other rooms on the same floor
carpets dirty, stained, not a good start
our friends were shown to another room which was ok
we then had to go back to reception and start again
given yet another room which thankfully was ok nothing special. large, clean etc but just ok the bed !!!???? was the most uncomfy i have ever slept on not in ........ a concrete slab comes to mind you couldnt make a dent in it all it was so hard

the staff were usless all apart form the fab bellboy who knew more of what was going on than any of the reception staff who i must say was just ignorant but not as ignorant and offhand and downright rude as the bar staff when we went for our free soft drink !!!!!!!!
the hotel is ideally situated for all you need to do in KL but is it really worth the hassle
after compaining we was given a plate of fruit etc as a pacifier and then a drink with the manager who tried to smooth out the problem but it really shouldnt have happened in the 1st place if the staff knew what they were doing
return trip ............ really dont think so

“Brillant Service and Staff”

Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur

Sep 28, 2008

Fantastic location, walking distance to all the main tourist attractions. Room service was great took full advantage of this as it was good value for money. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel bar was very stylish, not too busy and provided much needed refreshment from the heat after a long day of sightseeing and shopping. Didn't see much of the hotel as we were busy enjoying the many wonderful sights of Kuala Lumpur. We would recommend Twin Towers, all the many shopping malls, street markets and food hawker stalls

“Good location and clean rooms”

We went on a business trip to KL and decided to stay at the Equatorial. The location is excellent, right in KL City Centre. Thre is a convenient monorail station very near the hotel where you can easily reach other parts of the city. The hotel was impeccably clean, so were the rooms.

The rooms where spacious, had a double bed, desk, a chair, dressing table, wardrobe, iron, ironing board, a safe, a mini bar, 26" (I think, or bigger) flat screen TV and DVD player.

We staid at the club floor (level 11). In there guests can use the computers to access the internet. The club floor also offers a pre-dinner cocktail with free food and drinks between 6.30pm and 8pm. A wide choice of DVDs and Magazines can be borrowed and taken to your room.

The swimming pool facilities are great. The sun hits the swimming pool in the morning, and is shaded in the afternoon. So, if you don't like to be exposed to the sun and burn easily - like me - this is perfect.

The only two things I disliked about were:

Firstly, the astronomical prices charged for 24-hour WiFi internet access (so you can access the internet from your own laptop) - RM 50. Secondly, the breakfast at the club floor. The selection was rather poor. There were coffee, tea, milk, 3 fruit juices (not fresh), only low fat yoghurt - I am a fan of the full-fat ones), pastries, mushrooms, baked beans, saute potatoes, cereals and omelette. There were no Malaysian style breakfast like Dim-sums, fried noodles, egg fried rice, vegetable porridge, curry, etc.

Overall, it was an average/good experience.

“Stop over at the Equatorial - KL”

We stayed at the Equatorial Hotel (KL) enroute to Bali in July this year. We stayed for two nights (3 days) and found this hotel to be very quiet, although the soft furnishings in the room were a bit ‘jaded’ especially the carpet and curtains. The room size was quite large, bathroom was very spacious, very clean and as mentioned earlier (especially when you need to catch up on your sleep after a long journey) the hotel was very quiet.

I must say that the hotel did offer us a fantastic service. Our flight arrived in from the UK early on Saturday morning, and even though check-in was mid afternoon, we emailed ahead and asked if we could have a room on arrival. They advised that the hotel was full and may not be able to accommodate our request. But … when we arrived at about 8.30am, sure enough after a speedy check-in we were advised that they had managed to have a room prepared for us, and in fact house-keeping were just finalising the preparation of it for us.

We did not eat in the hotel so we cannot provide any feedback on that, but they had a lovely piano bar on the way out of reception (right hand side) called ‘Flo’, and it was very relaxing and the staff were more than happy to rustle up whatever cocktail you fancied, and were even happy to recommend some. My husband had the most amazing Singapore Sling there, the best I have ever tasted. The Mojitos were also fantastic.

The location of the hotel was very good and central. KLCC was just about a 5 minute walk around the corner, and once you step out of the hotel and take a few steps you have a fantastic view of the Petronas Towers. It is worth noting that you must go to the Traders Hotel and take the lift to their ‘Sky Bar’ where you have the most amazing view of the Towers lit up at night. The seating areas surround a swimming pool and if you are lucky enough to get a window seat, they are very plush and luxurious with big leather cushions.

KLCC was an amazing shopping experience, never ending designer stores, lots of places to eat and all in all a great Mall (one of many).

You must also try to visit Putrajaya - the new city with its Palace and Massive new Mosque, very clean and impressive.
