“Good stay and nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2014

Was a good stay at the renaissance. Easy check in and check out. The room was nice and clean. Quiet room and nice view of the pool. Good selection of food for breakfast. The honey selection was good! The cafe was a nice place to relax after a long day. Sofas and nice music. Had a cookie there with juice.

Overall everything was good, although we stayed in the regular part of the hotel, not the most luxurious one. The room was big, as well for the bathroom which had both a tube and a shower apart. All the little sanitary stuff was of a high quality. The reception staff was very nice and helpful, although a little slow in making the check-in. But I praise them for the fact that they listen to my request and gave me a room with a view to the Petronas towers, so impressive that this is hard to forget. I want to thank them again for their kindness.
The hotel is close to the Petronas towers and adjacent mall (waking distance 10 min). Nearby there is also a stop of the KL Monorail which drives you to other parts of the city, including the most commercial ones (Bukit, Raja Chulan). Apart from this and, I suppose, because it’s a rainy city, there are covered “passarelles” linking the most important buildings. Everything in this town is done to encourage the commerce and to ease the flow of people by other means than cars or buses (which may take ages to go from point A to B, as it might be extremely crowded).
Coming back to the hotel, I have a remark about breakfast. It was varied, offering not only the Malaysian cuisine, but also Chinese and European. But, to our astonishment there were few if any local fruits. If I go to Malaysia, in a Marriott hotel, I will expect to get what I call exotic fruits, like rambutans, bananas, papayas, dragon fruit, and not to find apples and pears! Maybe these are “exotic” for the locals but, please, not for the overseas tourists. One day, the chef came to ask us about the food, and we complained about the lack of exotic fruits. Immediately he came to our table with a plate full of various such fruits. It means that these fruits really existed; why they were not on display? Who knows? But it’s a pity for such a hotel and the standard it wants to keep with.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view over Petronas towers. The reception staff might help you with this. It...

My husband and I have stayed in this room for only 2 nights and from the get go you could tell the people serving you were inadequate.
When we asked were we could visit - the navigator did not inform you well about where best to go if we took the hop on hop off bus. It was as though he was not interested since we weren't interested in the tours.
Following this the staff overall weren't very welcoming or genuine in their assistance - they would walk past you with no salutation and the police manning the hotel seemed like they wanted to wacth your every move to find a reason to arrest you.
The communication between the reception and the other departments like the spa was not existant.. so when we went to the spa about claiming our benefits for staying at the hotel, they had no clue of what we were talking about - making us go all the way back to reception and advise them of the mix up.
The people who run the taxi service at the hotel were not even bothered enough to inform us that our taxi had arrived for our 6:30am drop off to the airport which had resulted in us missing our flight.
The lady who is in charge of the taxi service is outright rude and very pushy in wanting us to take a taxi before the delegated time.
Overall this palce has left a very bad taste in our mouths and made our experience at KL very disappointing and sour.
DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE CRAP

Room Tip: Do not get any lower floors

We stayed at this hotel as part of a luxury escape deal. Part of the deal was to have 'Club Access' deal. This meant being whisked away for personalised service with check in, access to a club lounge with free drinks from 5.30pm -9.30pm and delicious cocktail buffet. The room was extremely luxurious with the most amazing BIG bed! Service cannot be faulted- really wonderful experience. Hotel was scrupulously clean and plenty of staff to assist. We received two free daily newspapers, beautiful fruit and chocolates on arrival in the room.

Room Tip: We were in the west wing which narrowly missed a view of the Petronas Towers-ask for the east wing f...

Located at Kuala Lumpur's city center, you cannot miss this place. Just a five minute walk to the PETRONAS Towers, which is the reason why most travellers go to KL. The hotel is also near the KL tower, Malaysian Tourism Center, monorail/ LRT and Jalan Ramlee, where the nightlife is. We got a very nice room with a view --- the pool! So we would know if it's crowded or not. :) Love the bathroom and their wonderful staff. Quality for your money.
