I booked 2 non-smoking rooms at the Renaissance for a 1 night stay before flying to Jakarta. Upon arrival, they could only provide 1 room, and it was a smoking room. They convinced me to take to as it was an upgraded room from what I had booked. Upon entering the room, the tobacco odor knocked me over. It was the worst I had ever experienced. I am amazed the hotel does not clean better. After about 30 minutes, we received a knock on the door with a key to "change rooms", but in reality we still needed our second room. Confusion occured from that point as the person delivering the key didn't seem to understand that we needed a second room. Finally, yet another key was delivered for the second room. Later in the day, I requested a room change out of the tobacco smelling room since I had requested non-smoking to begin with. I was offered a new room AT A HIGHER PRICE. I refused and just toughed it out in the original room.

The room itself also had problems. The shower drain was so disgustingly clogged, I was afraid it would overflow into the bathroom. Also, the television did not work at all. The view, however, was spectacular.

The staff, while polite, all seemed somewhat confused about what they were doing. I will choose another of the many good K.L. hotels next time.

I stayed at the Renaissance East Wing from 10-14 October. I found it to be extremely clean, decor excellent and the staff friendly. This hotel was as good as many that I have stayed in in the USA and I felt was up to Marriott standards. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. It was just across the road from the monorail and adjacent the Petronas Towers, of which I had excellent views from my window on the 24th floor.

It lives up to the expectations. The room was OK, the noise from the traffic in the street was adequately muffled, but I was near the elevator and had to endure the farewells of guests which got noisier as the night went on. The Renaissance could do the effort of insonorizing the doors of those rooms. It must be mentioned that the food is exceptional.

“Good enough for a short stay”

Stayed at Renaissance for 2 nights (I booked Mandarin Oriental, but in case of overbooking we were moved to Renaissance). Having read some of the reviews I hardly understand people who complained on the rooms. Yes, there are two wings in this hotel - the old and the new one. The rooms in the East wing are standard, in the West Wing - deluxe. So you have different rooms at different rates (the east ones are cheaper), why complain then? You get what you pay for.
Deluxe rooms are very big and as comfortable as you can expect of a five-star. Staff is polite and willing to help you (girls at reception even brought me a russian city map which they didn't have - but they found it at a store near the hotel). Breakfast is nothing special but offered a wide variety of fruits.
All in all, a very good location - a metro station is just a few steps walk from the hotel.
Recommended to everyone (but book deluxe rooms!).
