“Westin Residence - Kuala Lumpur (Long stay suite 817)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2010

Stayed many times in Westin KL, but first time upgraded to Residence.

Very spacious and well-quip. Too bad I only stayed 2 nights. However rooms needs to be refreshed. Especially the signature bed. It was extra lumpy, sagging to one side and soft.

One other bad point about this particular room. It is facing the elavators. And I could hear other guests arriving/leaving. The door conneting to main wing also needs to be dampned. Clound hear it slamming everytime someone goes to the other wing (which is everyone else because my room is the only room facing the elavator, and is separated from the other rooms.

Although the initial parts of my stay was bad due to the lack of acknowledgement from the staff behind the counter (i'm a young adult, maybe they thought i couldn't afford the place) and they actually served someone else even though i was standing right at the counter just waiting. The room i booked was also not set up yet even though i called in the morning and they said i can check in by 12pm. I would still stay in the hotel again for the location and variety.

Despite all that, the assistant manager was really helpful and was apologetic (didn't make much difference to me but the thought was nice and refreshing) and tried to make amends.

The beds were heavenly! I could lay there all day. The room service was very prompt and polite. Pavillion Mall is also just across the street so shopping + dining options were easy. Am already planning my next stay there next year!

Stayed at the Westin in Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights it is perfectly located to explore the city with lots of the main attractions within walking distance.
The facilites and service are very good too - the pool is excellent for relaxing after wandering around the city.
The gym is well equipped and was not too busy.
The breakfast buffet is amazing probably amoung the best I have experienced.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the one we had had good views of the KL tower.

Warm greetings from The Westin Kuala Lumpur.

We thank you for staying with us and good to hear you enjoyed your stay.

Yes, i have to agree with you that our buffet breakfast is amazing and also value for money. It is our signature breakfast incorporating Super Foods and on top of this, you can also dine in 2 restaurants i.e. The Living Room and Daily Treats.

Once again, we thank you for your invaluable feedback and look forward to welcoming you whenever travel plans bring you back to Kuala Lumpur.

Take care and be well

I have not a bad word to say about The Westin Kuala Lumpur. The location cannot be beaten, across the road from the Pavillion shopping centre, around the corner from Bukit Bintang and monorail and not too far from the Petronas Towers - what more would you want in KL? Rooms are spacious and stylish, the pool area offers a little oasis in the heart of the city, the breakfast needs to be experienced to be believed. The location is what will keep me returning though. On arguable KL's best street - all you need is a stone's throw away. Love it!

Must say that our stay at the Westin in KL was a last minute add on to an extended family trip for 6 people... and may i add, it soon became a highlight of our trip..

Why was it a highlight?
Because everything was handled with ease, from private check in in the club room with Said through to the luxuriously appointed rooms, the well appointed and tended to club floor and to top it off the extra personal service provided by the staff with all our little queries.

Queries from where to shop, where to eat, where to visit... all queries were handled with heartfelt care and information provided with the same care.

Recommendation.
This is certainly a place i would recommend to any persons traveling, be it personal or business.. The location is superb, just opposite a large shopping centre to cater to everyones brand conscious desires... close to markets, eateries etc.

Staff.
Could not commend enough... Said in the club room went over and beyond what was expected and nothing was too much of a hassle for him to assist with... Even when i needed to call back to the hotel for assistance whilst i was out shopping.... just for a little 'extra' guidance'..

Overall
You will not be disappointed.. we will be back in the next 6 months or so, just to enjoy the Westin Hotel an the privileges of the club rooms...

Enjoy

The Westin Kuala Lumpur (hereafter WKL) is in a prime location, provides prime services, boasts prime dining options and houses its guests in (you guessed it) prime rooms. This is one of the few Westins in the world that competes shoulder to shoulder with the Ritz Carlton in the area and the competition is not on lower prices. Regardless of whether you are a first time visitor to KL or a regular, WKL will help deliver what you are in town for – and they will do it in prime elegance and style.

The location of WKL is second to none. It is situated next door to the Marriott and a few steps away from the Ritz Carlton. It is across the street from a luxury shopping mall and is surrounded by various eateries and shopping centers as well as the CBD. It is in the center of town, but is on the high-end side. It is the more sophisticated side of downtown and this is apparent from the people that walk about it as well as the way that the surroundings are decorated. There are ample taxis nearby and the various metro options are not far away. The location of the hotel was one of the things that we valued the most about WKL as we could act on impulse to head out and be at the center of action.

The rooms are clean, slick and provide for you the heavenly bed for you to rest yourself on. The TVs are new and the amenities are plentiful. Some of the rooms have massage shower heads that I thoroughly enjoyed. The view of the Petronas Towers is from one side of the building, but even if you are positioned on the opposite side, you get the view of the swimming pool and the surrounding neighborhood which is not bad. The interior designs of the common areas are also very well-kept with lighting put to good use. I could not fault this hotel at all in relation to its hard product. Perhaps the swimming pool is a bit small (coming from Le Meridien KL) but was still adequate for a quick dip.

The service was great too, but still has room for further improvement. There are no major complaints as every request was attended to efficiently and in a friendly manner, but I still witnessed a few minor ones like the doorman standing by the entrance for the purpose of greeting guests, not greeting guests but chatting to his colleagues throughout my stay. I had gone into the Marriott next door and was warmly welcomed with a ‘Welcome to Marriott’ by the doorman. Not a big deal, but still adds a lot to the guests’ experience when you welcome them as they walk in (or else, do not make them stand there for nothing!?) The concierge, on the other hand, was fantastic even when I engaged them at 3 AM in the morning. Two thumbs up.

The breakfast spread is superb and the coffee orders were attended to quickly (something that is important for me). The dining options in the hotel are very reasonably priced for a five star property, with the exception of some of their alcoholic beverages. The bar by the swimming pool is a good retreat spot – their tomato juice was sensational.

In all, WKL is one of the best places to rest your head on in KL. I would stay there again on my next return and recommend it to my friends and family.

We stayed at The Westin for our Conference. It is thoroughly professional and from the reception to the cleaner , the staff are friendly and helpful. The choice of food , especially the breakfast was wonderful with beautifully baked pastries. The beds are exactly as they say "Heavenly". We stayed in a deluxe room and it was spacious and well appointed with a magnificent bath and seperate shower. I was upgraded to an apartment and that was sheer comfort. Well done The Westin!
