“Awesome stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2014

It was a fantastic stay at The Ritz. Ru was a fantastic help in setting things up with the reservations and also providing guidance and assistance during the stay. She was the main reason we chose The Ritz.

The staff were also very friendly. Their warmth and cheerfulness made us feel invited to stay at The Ritz and feel like a VVIP

This is our 10th time staying at the Ritz residences.
All the staff from check in to club lounge are friendly and efficient. The rooms are enormous, we were upgraded to 3 bedroom residence, it's over 230 sq m.
Even with all the security with President Obama's visit, everything went smoothly.
I want to give a special thank you to Patricia Tan the reservations manager, who always looks after us.
Look forward to our next visit.

First off, the location of this hotel is confusing, and honestly, just not that great. It's tucked in an alley behind two other hotels (JW Marriott and Westin) and most cab drivers can't find the place. There is no view to speak of, even on higher floors, as you're staring right at other towers. On both sides of the hotel are active construction sites, so noise during the day is a problem, especially at the pool. There is no pedestrian access to the hotel, as the back alleys that you have to walk down to get to its front door have no sidewalks, meaning you have to dodge taxis and delivery trucks that are trying to run you over if you feel like walking to the nearby shopping mall or restaurants.

The staff at the hotel are attentive, but almost too much so, and the whole experience with having a "butler" was just awkward...it was almost hard to get him to leave our room after we checked in, since we just wanted time alone to settle in.

We constantly felt ripped off by the hotel. For example, they will only book you "executive" taxis, which are way more expenses, but not really nicer than a normal cab. The concierge gave us travel advice to the Batu Caves, and said the only way to get there was to pre-negotiate a trip with a taxi, who will wait for you and drive you back, as it is "very far" from the city. The concierge wanted to arrange us a taxi for 250 ringgit. Balking at the price, we walked out onto the street near the hotel and got a taxi to the caves for 120 ringgit. We also discovered that there is a direct rail link from KL Sentral to the Batu Caves, with a train station right beside the caves themselves...something which the hotel failed to mention. We again asked to have a taxi arranged to take us to the airport...as we had an early flight, we didn't want to risk trying to flag our own cab on the streets at 5AM. We were told the price for the "executive" cab would be 225 ringgit, despite the fact that an executive taxi from the airport to the hotel was only 100 ringgit. Upon our complaint, the concierge simply informed us that "this is the way it is" and there was no other option for travelling to the airport. He seemed offended that we suggested they were charging us far too much, but I guess Ritz Carlton guests are supposed to be rich enough not to care. The hotel itself wasn't expensive - it cost less than you'd spend on a Holiday Inn in North America, so just because we wanted to treat ourselves to a nice hotel on a trip to Asia doesn't mean we want the hotel to be fleecing us during our stay.

The interior of the hotel and the pool facilities were excellent, other than the aforementioned construction noise at the pool, though you can hardly blame that on the hotel. They had also rented out the pool to some sort of photo shoot, so we couldn't actually swim in it, and were forced to stay to one side of the deck to avoid interfering with the photographers, which annoyed us.

Considering the selection of five star properties available in Kuala Lumpur, all at a similar price point, I'll be staying elsewhere if I'm ever back in the city.

Dear Dave M,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback after your recent stay at the hotel.

We are sincerely disappointed that we were not able to fully meet your expectations during your stay. Your comments about the room condition, the prices and the service at the concierge desk are duly noted and we will make sure to review each of your comments with the concerned departments.

On another note, regarding the hotel condition, I am pleased to inform you that the hotel will be going under a major renovation with a completely new classic but modern design to meet the highest standards of the luxury hotels.

I do hope you will take the opportunity to stay with us again when your plans bring you back to Malaysia and would be delighted to assist with the details of your stay to ensure a more memorable experience next time round.

Our first stay at a Ritz Car but not our last! We enjoyed our stay so much that we will now look for a Ritz Carlton hotel wherever we travel. The staff gave exceptional service to two tired & stressed travellers. The butler and all the staff were so caring & helpful. We couldn't have asked for more. Also we loved the spacious, attractive & clean room: very comfortable & luxurious. I particularly liked the classic style of decorating: it's sumptuous!, The Smoking Lounge was the perfect place to unwind, with it's live music & delicious beverages, it was a relaxing & enlivening enviroment.
Enjoy!

We booked for a week stay at the Ritz but only stayed one night. We arrived late after our reception and just wanted to check-in and crash. The process took so much time from the front desk manager and the check-in staff talking so much to extend their hospitality to being accompanied to the room and to being introduced to our butler. Once we arrived in our room, there was again a long lecture about extending their hospitality and making sure that I was surprised by a nice warm bath in the tub waiting for me. It seemed they were looking for approval for their high standards in service. The executive lounge is a far walk away from the hotel building and the food is surprisingly not up to standards. Service was very slow. While the suite we stayed in was nice and I praise house keeping's job with the meticulous details, this hotel is older, has very dark interior and has construction across the street as your view. For the price we pay, there are other 5 or 6 star hotels offering better service, views and definitely food & beverage.

Room Tip: Since there's no view with this Ritz-Carlton, if you must stay here and love this brand, try to...

We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton four one night in Malaysia and wished we spent our whole stay there. From the arrival to the departure, it was perfect. The staff offered exceptional service, addressed me by my name and would go above and beyond to make sure our stay would be memorable. The butlers were a great addition and really made sure every stay was an experience. The lounge was also very good, food and beverages offered all day and a piano player for the cocktail hour.

We were upgraded to a suite and it was lovely. It was classic yet modern. A fruit basket and a plate of chocolate was waiting for us on arrival. It was extremely clean and the bathroom was full of luxurious towels and good quality products.

We came back late one night and found a plate with a chocolate version of the Petronas Towers! The butler had also prepared a peppermint bath. This is service that only hotels like the Ritz-Carlton can offer.

This was memorable and we look forward to trying other Ritz!

I love the Ritz Carlton chain and this vacation was splendid. Yes there was construction across the road, deafening i don't think so. Fabulous room and a deep bath "Thumbs up from my wife". The staff were so helpful, our lady that looked after our room did such a good job everyday. The club lounge was great, staff fantastic great cocktails. Breakfast super anything you want is available. Shopping brilliant especially with the walk way to star village, make sure you leave the wallet at home.
I really couldn't fault our 5 days there just super. People said to us "it is very expensive to stay there" my comment "you pay for what you get" I believe the prices were extremely reasonable, expensive no way.

Room Tip: Ask for a tour of the hotel.
