“Best Food in KL - Lemon Garden Cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2010

Nowhere else in KL comes close.
Fresh Oysters and seafood, amazing quality and variety of Malaysian and International cuisine.
Rooms and bathrooms are very tastefully decorated with attention to detail and spotlessly clean.
Perfect for a romantic getaway.
Do try the buffets at Lemon Garden Cafe, you'll not be dissapointed. I visited Lemon Garden for the 1st time back in 2004 and have been coming back regularly ever since!
One tip: call up and book in advance as this restaurant is always fully booked especially on weekends!

Thank you Shangri-La for this little piece of paradise. After checking out of the Empress Hotel Sepang near the airport, anything would have been better, but this hotel really is very nice and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay near the city center. This hotel is in walking distance to the Petronas Towers and shopping areas.

Great staff, great rooms, thank you so much!

We had planned to stay at the Shangri-La for two nights, but ended up staying 6 nights because of the volcano ash cloud. We can only say the best about it! We had to move rooms twice, but the hotel stuff was very friendly and helpful and always found a room for us for which we were very grateful. Two of the three rooms we stayed in were very spacious, one was reasonably sized. All of them were tastefully decorated and in excellent condition with very comfortable beds. Two bathrooms offered a shower and a bath, one offered a shower. Also the hotels business centre was very good. They offer a fairly large amount of computers and always try to make sure that a computer is available for you. The hotel is conveniently located, with a two minute walk to the next tube station.

The hotel offers outstanding food: The Lemon Garden Cafe offers a buffet type breakfast which was the best we have ever experienced. To give you an idea: They offer Chinese, Indian and Italian food, various types of eggs, bircher muesli, American pancakes, Belgian waffles, dried fruit, nuts, fresh fruit - either cut or whole, an ice cream counter with various toppings, danish pastry, croissants and brioches, various other types of bread, cake, sushi, two chocolate fountains, a salad bar, various types of fresh fruit juices - you name it, they have it! It is AMAZING. Also their Japanese restaurant is worth a visit. We have had excellent Japanese food, but this was outstanding. Also their Afternoon Tea is very good (both types, the malaysian and the classical English).

In the evenings they have a jazz band playing in the lobby which is also worth mentioning, because they are better than usual. Also the hotel stuff is very friendly and trained in an excellent fashion.

This hotel can keep up with Bangkok's Oriental hotel.

We stayed here for just 2 nights before traveling on to Langkawi. We have 2 young children and met my parents from the UK here. Oh my goodness - what a wonderful hotel. Every detail of the hotel is 5 star. From the moment you check in to the time you check-out you are treated like royalty.

The staff can not do enough for you and they just adore the children. We stayed in a Deluxe room which was very spacious. Plenty of room for the extra bed for my 5 year old and a cot for the baby. The bathroom was as plush as can be and the facilities such as the pool were wonderful. The hotel offer free Internet use in the business centre and the breakfast is just out of this world. There is everything you can think off even a chocolate fountain for the children! You could spend all day eating!

A pricey hotel but well worth the money and in an great location. Stay at this hotel and no other!

This Shnagri La is not by any means a brand new building, however it's been extensively renovated from top to bottom to bring it up to par with newer offerings in the area such as Shangri La's own Traders Hotel just a few minutes away.

You're smack in the middle of a lot of action both during the day and at night however the disadvantage is the chaotic traffic jams this area is prone to during the peak hours so do take extra time if you're traveling at these hours.

Rooms are tastefully decorated with warm tones, if only slightly smaller than average. The bathroom is nicely done however again, it's a bit cramped in the regular rooms.

I booked a Twin Tower view, however they failed to mention due to the heading the hotel building faces, chances are you will only be able to see one of the towers at any time as the other tower is hidden behind the one you're facing.

In terms of service, they seemed like a well run Shangri La. I only spent one night there so didn't have much interaction, however my room wasn't ready at check in at 3:15 PM so had a bit of a hassle and wait of about 10 minutes. (Check in time is 2 PM just like most other Asian hotels) Wasn't upgraded to anything bigger/better and I didn't ask for one either, however it would have reflected better on the hotel had they been proactive in addressing this inconvenience.

Overall definitely a good place to stay, however if you're a fan of Shangri La, the Traders hotel is also apparently an exceptional choice as well so worth taking a look in to.

I had a couple of nights here with colleagues and really enjoyed my stay. My room was a good size, spotlessly clean with modern furnishings and free internet access. Most of the staff I came into contact with were fantastic, apart from incredibly slow service in the hotel bar one evening which was a shame. I had a couple of meals in the Lemon Garden Cafe, which were ok, but actually thought the quality of the room service food was much better.
