“Another Great Experience at a Shangri La Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

We have just returned from KL where we stayed at the Shangri La Hotel. This is not our first experience at a Shangri La hotel. We have stayed a couple of times at their hotel in Fiji and also in Bangkok and the KL Shangri La certainly did not disappoint or take away from our previous experiences.
Firstly, it is located less than a 5 minute walk from the Two Towers and its wonderful shopping centre and parklands.
We received orchids upon arrival. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable. The food was delicious....especially dinner at the LaFite restaurant. The Hotel Lobby/Lounge was a relaxing place to hang out. It had a piano bar feel to it, and the food and service was excellent.
What was a stand out to us was the staff service...nothing was too difficult. Even after check out, a taxi was arranged for us to go to the airport. Just as we were about to hop into the taxi, a huge deluge of rain began. Four hotel staff helped us into the taxi....there was only my husband and I and 2 backpacks, but their concern for us getting wet or slipping was genuine. I happened to drop a book onto the ground as I was getting into the taxi and a staff member quickly picked it up and hurriedly went away to dry it off before she handed it back to me. I was astounded that their service continued even AFTER we had paid the bill.
Thank you again Shangri La for proving yet again that you are certainly a 5 star hotel.
I would highly recommend the Shangri La Kuala Lumpur to anyone and would not hesitate to stay there again.

The hotel is good. Not amazing, but good. It's in a good location, the rooms are small but clean and the service is good. What stands out is the phenomenal breakfast! This has to be one of the best hotel breakfasts in the world. They have everything and the quality is top notch. From warm croissants straight from the oven, freshly baked pastries, roti with curries, Chinese breakfast and pretty much anything else you could imagine. It's all great quality and cheap. I think I put on about 5kg in 4 days. In summary, good hotel and probably one of the best places to stay in KL.

Sitting looking out of our window at the Petronas Towers on the last afternoon of our 5 night stay at the Shangri-la I cannot help but feel a little sad. Our stay has been superb and there is not one thing my husband or I can fault about this Hotel!! The staff is so helpful and obliging, the rooms are spotless and who cares if they are furnished from another decade, style and taste is always in fashion. The bathroom is beautifully appointed and the bed very comfortable. We have dined at Arthur's (great), The Shang Palace (the Peking Duck was to die for) and both the breakfast and dinner buffets 1st class. You would be hard to please if this hotel didn't meet your expectations.

Room Tip: We were very happy with our room overlooking the Towers.

The best part about staying at this hotel is the breakfast - the best I have ever had! The spread is huge and it took us two days to sample everything. They even have two chocolate fountains - one milk chocolate and one white chocolate.
As always in the Shangri-la, the service was first class. We were upgraded to the executive room which was great and we had no complaints at all. We went in December and the decorations in the lobby were fabulous. Location of the hotel is quite good as well, just a five minute taxi ride to the shopping centres. Of course, there are other hotels right smack in the shopping areas but this hotel is worth the five minute ride. I will definitely stay here again.

And it is a nice place to stay. Shangrila's five star hotel in KL is a well kept haven in a very busy city. I was on business my wife joined me for a holiday, both ofmus enjoyed our stay.

Our room was well maintained and well appointed, one critisism was the air con had three settings, on, on colder and freeze, it woild be nice for the adjustment to have a positionmthat adjusted the temperature to maintain a pre set temp, if it did our rooms aircon didn't work. Hever mind the bed wasq comfortable (if managment reads this then consider pillow top matresses same as the Fairmont in Singapore).

Food at the hotel was excellent in the main, we dined at all but the Japanese restaurant and I didn't mind spending the extra money to dine in. In fact I rate Arthurs steaks as 8ne 8fnthe better steaks I've had in a resta6rant for a long time, so much so we dined here twice and weren't dissapointed. The Chinese restaurant was excelent and breakfast in the main restaurant was very good. The loby bar was enjoyed most of our 5 nights stay and the staff I couldn' t fault. Well done girls.

One food issue was an evenings meal at the general restaurant, cold pizza and an average curry... I guess 1 meal out of 5 wasn't too bad.

We enjoyed the pool as we did the general ambience of this fine hotel. The old girl does need some work though really she's in pretty good knick for a 5 star hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights on a package includes Club benefits (late checkout at 4pm). Worth it with free breakfast, free afternoon tea and cocktail in Club Lounge. Room with decent WiFi.
Tried the CHI Spa (part of Shangri La) and prices were reasonable. Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna came with the spa. Therapists Norisan and Santy were great. The staff @ concierge(chris), customer service (lindsay) were more than helpful with my requests. In-room dining was efficient, too. Club lounge service and daily housekeeping were at 90% standard but try their best at prompting.
The taxis at Shangri-La are a bit more expensive but are bigger with better aircon and there is recourse if you forget and leave your belongings in the taxi, etc.

Room Tip: Face KLCC. Has unblocked view on club floor.

Everything about this hotel is fantastic. I have never experienced such friendly staff they always greet you with a smile and are so so helpful. We stayed in the club rooms as we had a deal and the food was just to die for it was very worth the money it exceeded expectations I would definently recommend getting club room benefits as u get free buffet Breaky every morning which is to die for and free canapés for dinner as well as afternoon tea. Close to everything. Pool and fitness area was good. Overall very very happy!!!
