My fiancee and I stayed at the Grand Millennium (Formerly The Regent) over the F1 weekend. Here is our review of the hotel:
Location - The location itself is great. It is close to the monorail, major shopping centres and food eateries. However, due to the constant jams along Bintang walk where the hotel is located, it may be difficult to get a taxi, or the taxi driver refusing to stop at the hotel itself.
F&B outlets - The service provided by the wait staff was excellent. Do try their weekend buffets at The Mill which is 1 for 1 for in-house guests. We had the seafood buffet and for the price and selections, it was indeed value for money.
Rooms - Attached are pictures of the rooms. Although the lobby had undergone a massive refurbishment, the rooms and their funishings were pretty much the same / dated (except for the flat screen TV) as compared to much newer, chic or refurbished hotels like Traders, Maya and Westin.
Sound-proofing was inadequate as we could hear the slamming of doors and people talking down the corridors.
On a positive note, the deluxe room was bigger than most hotels due to the triangle alcove which provided more space.
Check-in - Checking-in took a long time as attributed by the influx of guests for the Easter weekend / F1. We waited for almost 20 mins before the guest relations could attend to us. In fact, they had to check us in at their business centre which took another 20 mins as they had to check on our room availablity.
Room Services -
1. The room service meal portions can be improved.
2. During the daily housekeeping, a fresh set of toiletries was not given when they see your soap bottles still half utilized (faced this problem at the Crowne Plaza as well).
3. Turndown service had to be requested for. This should be a routine service provided by major 5 star hotels.
Overall, our experience at this hotel was good and we have no major concerns. However for the price of the room and the recent rebranding, we do expect better room furnishings and guest relations service.
Another plus point - we managed to catch the F1 fireworks from our room shooting up from the Menara tower at 1.30am on Sunday morning!
