“No outside food - even in your own room?”

The minute we walked through the hotel's main door with an almost empty pizza box in a plastic bag, their door man told us, "Sorry, no food in the hotel, you can't even bring any outside food into your room!" I have stayed at many hotels around the world, this is a first time! And the last time I'll stay with this hotel brand.

“Fine, but was expecting more”

Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur

Took advantage of the Grand Preview special (free 3rd night) to book an Executive Club room.

The experience from first getting out of the cab through to getting into my friend's car on departure was, on the whole, fine, although with a few reservations.

First thing is that they really need to signpost their concierge desk. All the desks looked identical, but some of them are hotel reception, and one was the concierge desk (I think it was the far rightmost desk). In addition, they need a sign or a person telling new arrivals that the Executive Club reception is on the 18th floor. The entire lobby looked brand new, so perhaps they haven't gotten the signs made up yet.

The Executive Club itself is pretty poor. Although you can choose to take breakfast here, the selection is extremely limited compared to what is on offer in the general public downstairs brasserie. You do get to avoid the crowds though. The free snacks on offer throughout the day and the free drinks from 5:30 to 8:30 are a nice touch, but we found we weren't even in the hotel during those times. (When KL is such a bustling city with activity until late at night, who gets back to their hotel so early? Maybe to drop off shopping...). The library consists of a bookshelf of books, and there is exactly one computer hooked up to a printer on offer. It is a quiet and relaxing place to hang out and chill out, rather than being stuck in your room, and business travellers will appreciate the wireless internet connection. What can't be faulted is the staff, who are extremely helpful.

Our room was on the 19th (top) floor of the hotel, and seemed like any other hotel room to me. For a newly refurbished 5 star hotel, I did expect some more luxury in the furniture and fittings. They must have also missed the bathroom during the refurbishment. In addition, the walls were pretty thin (I could hear a lady in the next room scrunch up a plastic bag - God knows what they heard from our room!!!). On the plus side the king-size bed and soft pillows were super comfortable, they use a heavenly green tea L'Occitane collection for their bathroom supplies, and the free laundry service (3 pieces laundered or pressed per day, for EC rooms) works as advertised.

Also, despite being on the 19th floor, the view out the window wasn't anything special (our room faced away from KLCC).

Didn't get a chance to try out the fitness centre, pool, sauna, or jacuzzi facilities. They have a day spa in the hotel, which we also didn't try, particularly after the person that answered the phone couldn't tell me how much a manicure and pedicure was going to cost.

On the whole the refurbishment seemed to have concentrated on jazzing up the lobby and exteriors, and left the rooms themselves sadly lacking. The staff was a mixed bag, with those in the Executive Club extremely helpful, as was the concierge (once we found him), and the porters friendly and efficient. However the staff in the restaurant must have been new. My girlfriend used the salt shaker on our table and to her horror shook out a mixture of salt grains and what appeared to be black hair clippings onto her eggs. When we pointed this out to the waiter, he took the plate away mumbling that he'd take it to be looked at and would return with a new dish. Of course that never came. At no time during breakfast were we asked which room we were in or asked for payment, which was nice, but left us thinking that any old Joe from the street could pop in for a free meal. The downstairs reception staff were functional, but not exactly enthusiastic.

I think the Grand Preview deal is over now, and unless there's a particularly good offer, I'd be curious as to how the other 5 star establishment stack up against the Grand Millenium.

“Finally, a real 5-Star Hotel!!”

This place was amazing!! After traveling around the Malaysian penninsula this place was just what i needed! Service was truly impecable. Location in the downtown district was perfect - the hotel is within a quick walk of three major shopping malls. The breakfast buffet included diverse choices from around the world (but the omlette chef was really slow). Even the lobby bathroom had an attendant ready with a bottle of cologne to freshen you up.

At $100US/nt this was an excellent choice!

There was no need to queue at the check-in area as it was made in such a way to serve guests individually. Guests can be seated comfortably while waiting to be checked in.

Location, service & breakfast spread were superb. The toiletries provided were heavenly. They deserve the 5-star rating.

My only tiny complaint was that the staff who checked me in was a little inattentive to my reservation details. Breakfast was included in my package but she thought it was room only.

I think my stay at this hotel was worth the money as I got it at a promotional rate. The hotel was still undergoing some renovation works but the noise was very minimal.

Late check-out was allowed until 2pm, no questions asked.

A great place to have a luxurious stay at a not so exorbitant price!

“Fantastic, location and rooms”

Ok, so I was a little concerend having been told that there was some building work going on, It emialed them having to spend 3 days in KL earlier this week, I have to say that this is a great hotel, ok your not getting the same feel as the MO but your not paying that hotels price either, It is in a great location, having been to KL many times I know my way around and I love staying in this area as close to shops
and activity. Truth be told there is a little building actiivtiy going
on I will not lie but this is set to be complete by Christmas, I must praise the staff who do there best to ensure that your stay is great, Whilst I waited to check in a ocuple with a cranky little toddler where checking in and a staff member got the attention of the little child to make her laugh.

Kl is such a vibrant city and I encourage everyone no matter what hotel you in to get onto street level and eat where the locals do, not
only is it cheap but it is better then what you get in the hotels, I think this hotel, once completed fully will be a very popular one, yes
it will not match the MO but you will not be unhappy with your choice.
The rooms are large and neat, the staff nice and friendly. I must say that the management have fixed any problems highlighted by the TA review here in June, they have had staff changes from the old Regent staff to the newer Millenium staff, So in short it is a 4 star hotel, and I would return here in future be it for business or pleasure, as I said before not as good as the MO but a darn bit cheaper as well
