Hi, Stayed on my Honeymoon here as our 1st stop before we went KK and Langkawi.
This is a massive Hotel with great scenery all round. If your getting breakfast, get up early to avoid the queues. What we did was got up around 6.30 to 7am stuffed ourselves with the huge array of food. You can practically have anything you want for breakfast. What's good after a good feed? a nice nap and get back up around 9-10am fresh as a daisy.
We only ate in one restaurant here can't remember name but it's the one were breakfast is served. Beautiful food but you could eat elsewhere for cheaper. Wine seems to expensive all over malaysia when your dining out. Averaging about 120 Ringits for cheapest bottle of wine.
But one thing to do in KL is EXPLORE. Get on the Monorail about 5 mins walk from hotel. Don't pay anything more than 10 Ringits to go anywhere in the city with a taxi 10 Ringits is a good price.
If your going to get tickets for the Tower bridge in Petronas queue very early as if your a bit late you'll be waiting a long time. Although tickets are free, it's not worth waiting 2-3 hours for your tickets, as your only aloud on the bridge for 10-15mins.
For better views of the city book lunch in the KL Tower revolving restaurant you get 1 hour up there and some decent food for about 40-50 ringits each.
If you can't tell by now I LIKE FOOD.
You have to go to JALAN ALOR to the hawkers stalls cheap cheap cheap cheap quality food did i say cheap. My wife and I ate out for just less than 50 Ringits that's in around 12 euro. We got Barbecued Chicken and Beef, Chicken & Beef satay YUM YUM! Loads of fish stuff, some soft drinks tips and some spare money left that we gave to a beggar. Although not luxurous surroundings the quality of food and the atmosphere is unquestionable great stuff great value.
Day trips: Go to Kuala Selangor to see the fireflys that's a really good trip. The hotel have a booklet on day trips book this trip through that booklet and guess what you great great food on that trip too. And you'll get to feed the monkeys the black monkeys are the nice fellas the silver monkeys are more aggressive.
We also went to Melacca on a day trip we got a private trip with EAST WEST I would NOT recommend it. I don't know if it was the place or the Rep. A long boring trip and our Rep didn't have much information a waste of a day. But all in all KL is a great place a spotless clean city some building going on. But, hey so what! But, EXPLORE EXPLORE EXPLORE so much to see so little time. And at the end of the go back to your luxurious room in the Mandarin. If you like a drink go to Finnegans at Bukit Bintang. Nice atmosphere.

We stayed prior to going to Langkawi for 12 nights in December 2004.

We had Mandarin oriental club rooms facing the towers.

Service was faultless, good value for money, rooms superb, breakast buffet and clubroom immense.

Views.....to die for

Sauna, steam room and pool, again superb

A great friendly and stunningly decorated hotel, well worth every penny.

Mandarin club floors are well worth the supplement for the club lounge and extra luxurious touches to the room.

We had very high expectations upon arrival at the MOKL, after reading all the outstanding reviews.
It is certainly is a good hotel, still nohere close to "the best we ever stayed at" that can be read in reviews.
The situation cannot be beat. All reviews are true about that one. You cannot imagine how close to the Petronas it stands.
It is a very big hotel, and when you step inside the lobby; there is a real frenzy, which is surprising. We were showed immediately to the Club Level reception, where we were instructed that a minimum dress code was expected in the Club Lounge, especially no children, which was fine with us. It turned out that the place was packed with people wearing shorts, swim suits, sandals or even slippers, which were supposed to be discouraged. there were children running everywhere. Nobody, not theirs parents nor the staff cared the least.
Club lounge is overall disappointing : seating capacity has been grossly underestimated, and at complimentary drinks time, it was difficult to sit.
Breakfast served there was a mess. Only a couple of toasters with a queue building up in front of them, dishes served cold, 25 minutes to get coffee, and I have got several like this. Staff seemed to be overwhelmed, and with no idea on how to deal with it.
I made that point clear on checking out, and I must admit there has been a great follow-up on this, with several letters and emails.
We tried out one of the restaurant, Biba's I think. The atmosphere was kind of fun, with an open kitchen, and good food very reasonnably priced.
Our Club City Room on the 29th floor was good. Nice atmosphere, good furniture, great bed. rather on the smaller side, especially the bathroom. It boasted an amazing view of the Petronas, with floor to ceiling windows.

This hotel deserves the 5-star it gets. It was a great hotel, directly next to the Petronas Towers (largest in the world) and ideal for the subway. Kuala lumpur is a nice place to stay and very clean. The hotel itself is really beautiful, clean and excellent value for money compared to Europe.
The restauarants are really good and great value for money.
Overall, I could not fault this hotel and I wonder how anyone could.

This is undoubtedly the best hotel we have ever stayed in the service and hotel are outstanding. We stayed in a club floor room and it is worth spending the little extra as you get free breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktails, and access to the club floor lounge. The hotel is in a great location next to the petronas towers and overlooking a large park. The hotel restuarants cover everything you could wish for and the pool and gym facilities are excellent. There is also a Thalago spa , hairdresser and nail technician. If you are in kuala lumpa and looking for luxury you need to stay here.!!!
