“More a business persons hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

This hotel felt very much like a business persons hotel rather than one catering for tourists .It is large and a bit soulless .Staff at the front desk were variable .Some very friendly and helpful ,others less so .On arrival ,they gave the impression you were doing them a favour by staying there .Certainly not the impression we got in their hotel in Singapore where we were made to feel very welcome .A welcome drink was just handed over the counter to us .The room was well appointed and had good views over the park .Hotel location is good within the city .The breakfast buffet was excellent .resent having to pay for Wifi in the hotel as nowadays a lot of hotels give complimentary Wifi.

Room Tip: Although the view over the Petronas Towers is amazing we were told that the light at night shines ea...

Dear dizzyfizzy45

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us on Tripadvisor.

We have taken note of your comments on our colleagues who delivered less than satisfactory experience during your stay and we apologize for the inconvenience. We have highlighted this matter to our Front Office Manager and re-briefing has been conducted to ensure that there are no reoccurrence in the near future.

Further, we have taken note of your comments on the provision of complimentary WiFi service. Due to the high cost of quality bandwidth in Kuala Lumpur most hotels charge for WiFi accordingly. We have completed a survey of the 8 top rated Luxury hotels in the city and 7 out of 8 charge for in-room internet access for regular room accommodation. Guests who choose to stay on our Club Floors do receive complimentary internet access. I am pleased to share that on this note, our hotel provides by far, the highest level of bandwidth in the city and once logged in you may use up to 6 devices on your account. We will continue to review our pricing policy on a routine basis as part of our benchmarking analysis to ensure we are in keeping with the market situation.

Thank you for the positive feedback on our breakfast and our views. We look forward to having you stay with us in the near future.

Yours sincerely

Stayed several times in Mandarin Oriental KL and it is by far has the best location in the city. It is next to a great shopping Mall KLCC and many nightlife spots. The rooms are pretty good and the service is outstanding!!! All staff are very helpful and friendly. MO- KL has also a great spa and pool. However, The rooms need to be improved like the lobby where it got a nice face lift about a year ago.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in a glorious suite at the MO in August. It is a very traditional luxury hotel and we had a fantastic time. The staff are second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. Everyone spoke perfect English. Malaysians are very friendly, service-oriented people. Our suite included access to what has to be one of the very best club lounges in the world. Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and cocktail hour were all included. The club lounge has amazing views of the Petronis Towers and the park and city. There are many seating areas on the floor making each area quiet and private. The food offering was simply amazing. More like a full-on buffet five times a day. You could eat every meal there and not leave the hotel. It's that generous. Food, drink and service of the highest quality. The staff in the club were amazing. The corner suite had a separate living room with amazing views, beautifully furnished. A powder room was off the living room. The bedroom was large, beautifully appointed and contained a desk area. The walk in robe was small and just adequate. The bathroom was lovely and contained a bath, make-up mirror, nice shower, and lovely toiletries. The suite package included 5 items of clothing laundered, pressed or dry cleaned daily. The laundry was beautifully done, and we are extremely fussy with that and very rarely use hotel laundries for fear of mishap. The room had a fruit bowl which was replenished daily and lovely fresh flowers. Transfers to and from the airport were in lovely S class Mercedes Benz with professional drivers. Thank you David. The hotel is the the most perfect position in the city. The park at the back of the hotel is very big and beautiful and contains a running/walking track which is over a kilometer long. There is a major luxury shopping centre directly next door with everything you could imagine. I would highly recommend the MO in KL. The price of the suite is offset by the benefits of the club lounge and the extra benefits of the suite. Great value indeed. Would stay again. Loved the food.

Room Tip: Spend the extra for a corner suite. Well worth the money as the benefits are far more than most sui...

Great rooms and service- extensive breakfast is a real treat. This is a stylish place with sumptuous public rooms, bedrooms are good (only minor criticism is bathrooms are a little tired for this standard of place). Exec floor offer great amenities. View from pool is a one off! Location cant be beaten!

Room Tip: Park view is my preference

We stayed twice in a month at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. It has by far the best location in town, as it stands just in front of the stunning Petronas Twin Towers, right in the middle of the Golden Triangle. The key word to understand what Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur is all about is service, outstanding service. Everybody - from Guest Relation people to bell men - work with such great respect and attention to Client's need that you really feel the most important person in the world. We highly recommend to stay in one of the Club 24 rooms where you can experience the best of the legendary Mandarin Oriental service and amenities: private check in and check out, room upgrade, separate lounge for breakfast, lunch and high tea; business center, free wireless, pool and gym with exceptional view on the city, joga classes and so on. That means that even if Club rooms are more expensive than ordinary ones, those are definitely the best value for money. We also recommend to have dinner at the great chinese restaurant Lai Po Heen one of the best in town. The only area of improvement of the hotel is the overall décor and conditions of the premises, main lobby, pool and rooms décor and furnitures look outdated, even if everything is perfectly tidy and immaculate. Anyway, the service you will experience at MO is so perfect that you won't regret your choice most of all if you compare Mo service to all the other KL 5 stars hotel, included the brand new and shining Grand Hyatt. So, as far as you are in KL for business or leisure we highly recommend to go to Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur.

Room Tip: Definitely pick a Club Room with Twin Towers view!

Superb service from the minute we met their staff at the airport who sorted a car for us to get to the hotel. The room was perfect and it was definitely worth booking the Petronas Towers view. It was easy to book a taxi back to the airport and we could charge it to the room which was very helpful. The location right next to Suria KLCC was very handy for shopping and a wide variety of places to eat suiting all budgets.

Stayed here with a girlfriend for 3 nights on our way back to Sydney after a 5 night resort stay in Kuantan. I would like to commend the staff on their hospitality and 5 star service. The rooms are modern and spacious and if your lucky enough to get a room that overlooks the Petronas Towers. Next door to a huge shopping centre and beautiful gardens and water fountain show. The Casbah bar was lovely (minus the smoke smell) there was a gentleman playing the piano which was fantastic. The Grill restaurant unbelievable, great menu and the food was delicious and the wine was great. The high tea is also plentiful and delicious, highly recommended. Overall we had a great stay and would rate this hotel a 10 out of 10.

Room Tip: I believe every room is a great one at this hotel.
