“great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

PROs

- great location! just a few steps from pasar seni station, walking distance to central market
- friendly receptionists (one of them is pinay)
- free wifi
- relatively clean bedroom and comfy bed
- 7-11 in front of hotel for after night out snacks

CONs

- no divider between sink area and shower area, thus, almost entire bathroom floor gets wet when you take a shower

The halls are dingy, depressing and institutional. Rooms are sparse with no amenities. We checked in late afternoon and went out to dinner. When we returned and were getting ready for bed, we found that there were these little bugs crawling on the sheets in the bed. We went down to reception to request a change of room and they refused, stating that they did not believe us. We showed them evidence of the bugs that we had caught and crumpled into bits of tissue paper and they said the best they could do was clean the room.

They send some cleaning people to the room and they just change the fitted sheet. We said what about the pillow cases and the covers, at which point one of the cleaners got annoyed and called reception telling them to give us another room because they couldn’t be bothered.

We get another room, it’s late evening now, and spend a sleepless night worrying about the creepy crawlies. When we check out, the staff are as surly as ever, not a word of apology, not even a greeting or good-bye. This place should get negative stars.

The hotel is modern, clean and well located. My room was on the 10th floor and was quiet. It was fairly small but was ok for one person. I had booked for three days. After breakfast each day I couldn't get access to the 10th floor without going back to reception and having them adjust my key card. I found this a bit annoying, especially the day when I was in a hurry to make an appointment. The room had only one sheet and a doona which seems crazy in the tropics. At this class of hotel you should be able to get two sheets.

GEO is a reasonable hotel with some good points but I will probably give another place a try on my next visit to KL.

Room Tip: I fololowed the advice on trip adviser to choose a deluxe room as they are higher up in the building...

We stayed for 5 nights in a comfortable room with a spacious balcony facing Jalan Hang Kasturi St., where we can watch people come and go in their daily life. The staff in the front desk, specially Luz and Sylvester are friendly and courteous. The location of these hotel is simply perfect. Across the street you can find a 7-11 Convenience store, the Central Market, the Kasturi Walk, the famous Chinatown. Fronting the side entrance of the hotel is the Pasar Seni MRT Station w/c is one station away from KL Central, the main central station for all the transportations that link to all the popular major tourist destinations of Kuala Lumpur, like the Batu Caves, Genting Highlands, Malacca and more. Also, at this side of the hotel is the KL Hop-On Hop-Off City Tour Bus stop and ticket counter. This bus will bring you to all 40 most popular tourist attractions of KL, which includes the KLCC Suria, the famous Petronas Twin Towers, Bukit Bintang High-End Shopping Strips and more at 23 stops. It only cost MYR 45 per person and ticket is for 24 hours. This is a must-try to all tourist visiting KL.
If you are looking for convenience, comfort and affordable price, then GEO HOTEL KL is IT!

Room Tip: Third Floor with a Balcony, Facing Jalan Hang Kasturi St. are quieter.

I booked this hotel several months prior to our vacation and secured it with a Visa card. When we arrived, about 6:30 pm, our superior non-smoking room had been given away and we were offered a superior, smoking room instead. I chose to downgrade to a standard room that was non-smoking but was charged the same rate. The woman at reception was kind and just quoted the prices she saw on her computer. The shower area was very, very wet with water puddles when we arrived in the room, but at that point, we just ignored it and checked in as it had been a very long day. Room was quiet, Wi-Fi was good, and overall, everything worked ok. But, with our room given away, we should have paid less for a smaller room or been upgraded to another non-smoking room. Location was central.

Really good location, close to transport links, Central Market and Chinatown.
Saying this, it means that the area is quite noisy, so I took advice from other reviews, and for a little bit more money I booked a superior room, that was located in one of the highest floors of the hotel. Problem solved, as it was absolutely quiet.
The room was good size and clean. It is bit far of the Petronas Tower area, and the surrounding shopping malls and tourist hotels, but there are more things to see in KL than these, and the price benefits from this distance.
Although breakfast was not include there were plenty of 24h shops around to get your day started.
The only "but" would be the noisy and hard to control A/C system.
Good choice to save you money comparing with other places.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel and I couldn't be more pleased with it. The rooms were big, clean, and modern. The balcony had a great view of the Sri Mahamariamman Temple and I could almost throw a stone at Central Market and Chinatown. The front desk was friendly, as a matter of fact, everyone in Kuala Lumpur was friendly and I would highly recommend staying here on your next visit to KL! My only negative is the attached restaurant, I wouldn't eat there one of the worst meals on my whole trip around SE Asia. Eat elsewhere like close by Restoran Jalal Yusof, but stay at this hotel!
