“Chinatown Temple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012

This really nicely situated Chinese temple with it's brightly coloured architecture was so welcoming and during the Chinese new Year made it extra special. I was so fortunate by chance to meet there a lovely elderly lady who was from Australia but visited the temple regularly when she was visiting family in KL. She was a mind of information about the Chinese culture and the celebrations that were taking place. I was free to take what photos i wished and was made so welcome.

“The Temple of Chinatown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2011

It was the first time in my life in the temple and i felt amazed.
It is so exotic, so mystic, so different, so interesting to discover a new culture that i ignored before.
the color inside and outside, the candles, the smel , the fruits like offers, the budhas and the peaceful atmosphere of temple r the meaning symbol of the Budhism.
Must to see it

“Small, welcoming Taoist temple in Chinatown”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2011

Guan Di Temple, dedicated to the Taoist god of war, is a small, charming temple in Chinatown. It has beautifully painted woodwork and is filled with a sultry haze of incense. Tourists are welcomed and can burn incense if they choose; they're not required to remove their shoes, unlike at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, a larger Hindu temple almost directly across the street. Guan Di was a real-life Chinese general of the Three Kingdoms period; a hero among Chinese peasants, he was deified for his loyalty and sense of honor after he was betrayed and beheaded in the year 219. This temple lies on Jalan Tun H. S. Lee, so it's not on the main road in Chinatown, namely Petaling Street. As a result, it may be tricky to find without a map, but it also offers visitors a break from the crowds elsewhere in KL's Chinatown. There is no fee for entry.
