“Close to sites, a bit noisy...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012 via mobile

We stayed for two nights in one of the private rooms... the room was OK, reasonably clean, but hot water was intermittent and the lrt passes right outside the hotel, so it's a tad on the noisy side... having said that it's walking distance to Chinatown and bukit bintan which is handy... overall not a bad stay but wouldn't necessarily return...

We stayed here for three nights and despite it's convenient location the hotel was most unpleasant.

On arrival the lady on reception could not find out booking (despite having the booking confirmation printed off, which was made through their website). We were then kept in reception for about twenty minutes whilst they sorted a room out for us. On a positive note they did upgrade our room at no extra cost due to the error. Unfortunately this did not prove to be as good as we’d hoped – the room had a faulty window so the noise from the road, and the nearby LRT line was terrible. My wife then received bedbug bites after our first night, which made a couple of days in Kuala Lumpur quite uncomfortable for her. The television had no remote control, and the bath was dirty.

On our last night in the hotel the fire alarm went off at about 1am, so we had to sit outside for 15 minutes whilst they investigated. We were then let back into the hotel (whilst the alarm was still going off), and had to use the stairs to get to the fifth floor as the elevator was not working.

Overall, I was not impressed by this hotel and would definitely not recommend it or stay there again.

Room Tip: My tip would be to book another hotel.

I booked a junior suite here on AsiaRooms for MYR173.60. In retrospect it would have been better to have booked direct through the hotel website. Coming in by long distance bus to Puduraya Bus Station, we were able to walk to this hotel. It is on the street that follows the LRT. We were concerned that it would keep us awake but it didn't. The stop for the Starshuttle bus to KLIA and LCCT is just opposite and reception provided us with a timetable. That would have been good if it had not been full, remember to book.

The location is also very convenient to Chinatown, shops and restaurants. There is a Muslim cafe across the road for a roti channai for breakfast.

Our room was small and clean with a large bathroom. My best description of the décor is neo-bordello. I did not have a problem with the style but there were many peculiar things about this room. There was a window space into the bathroom with only a bead curtain and a doorway into the bathroom with no door. You need to be on very intimate terms with your companion for this room!

The bathroom had a bath with spa jets but the shower was great. It had a whole array of water spouts from head to foot. There was a small safe but it was not attached to anything! There was an attractive bedside lamp that had a plug that did not fit any of the sockets! There did not appear to be anywhere to put your clothes except in the case that they arrived in.

If you choose a standard room rather than a junior suite, the whole room is a bed on a platform on the floor. There is not much space to move around but it does have a regular bathroom with privacy.

Room Tip: look before you choose.

We checked in to this hotel before 12:00 and the room was already available. Very nice staff on the reception. Our room was just below of train track and we noticed that the window in the room was open and couldn't be closed. We got the change to room the next day and then it was great! Bathroom and room was very clean ant it is a short walk to chinatown for late night meal. I suggest you take the hop-on-hop-off bus (24h 38 MYR) since this is a very good way to see all the attractions and then you can end up to the shopping malls and you still have a ride home in the end of the day with all your shopping bags :)

Our boutique style room felt luxurious with its extremely comfy bed and separate walk in shower. The attached Diner style restaraunt does great food and it is within walking distance to many attractions. Would stay here again, very enjoyable stay, nothing bad to say at all!

Had an overnight transit in KL and decided to try Arenaa Mounbatten. My notes are as follows:
1. Location: 5 mins walk from Masjid Jamek LRT station. 2 mins walk from Puduraya (shuttle buses to/from airport) <<-- do not believe their slogan "provides shuttle bus to airport directly on our doorstep" --->> you still have to walk!!! They also wrote on Agoda: "Direct, non-stop hourly shuttle service" which is why i booked this hotel in the first place cause my connecting flight was at 6am. Well, do not believe it too! It turned out that the shuttle latest departure is at 11pm and earliest departure at 4am, which is no good for me.

2. Staff: front office staffs were okay. Not the friendliest but they're informative. When i was in the room however, 3 housekeeping staffs came in and instead of cleaning the room they chatted (????!!!!!). Then one of them went to the toilet (i assumed to clean it) while the other two chatted with me(!!!!). Beds were not touch at all (i stayed in the dorm room). Floors wasnt vacuumed/mopped. Then they left. I reckon they stayed only 7 mins or so. Maybe they returned later in the day when i wasnt there to clean the room. But then i left and return hours later, bathroom and toilet still dirty. Hmmm....

3. Room: the room itself was okay. Note that we do not get a key! So everytime we want to enter the room, the security guy will open it for us. Such a hassle. Hot water in the shower was half hot. No bathroom ammenities. I did like the decor though, and there's lockers in the room where we can keep our stuffs.

Conclusion: if u need a place for transit it's okay. But for a longer stay where you would want some hospitality and comfort, i dont think Arenaa Mounbatten up for it.

The location of Arenaa wins it good points; it's close to Chinatown, Merdeka Square, and Central Market as well as well as transportation stations and eager taxi drivers. Being so close to the MRT railway means that you'll be likely to hear it go by depending on where your room is.

I got a shred room (four beds). Inside, the bathroom had a towel for a door, and the two showers had fogged glass for their doors, which was a bit frightening at first, but the eyes can't penetrate through them. The lighting is a bit inconvenient and the remote for the television lacked batteries. The air conditioning worked, and I didn't hear much from those in the halls or in other rooms (though if they wanted to be noisy, it was possible). Wifi is free but if you're going to use more than 2 hours, then you'll need to go down to the receptionist and get a new internet pass.

Luckily, everyone I encountered at reception was extremely nice, and, like the rest of those who occupy Kuala Lumpur, spoke English with perfect fluency. You need to pay for a blanket if you want the extra comfort, and I used a towel over the pillow because, even though the floor was clean, the rest of it was a bit questionable.

All in all, the experience was simply OKAY. I'll try somewhere else next time, but won't mind if I go back. The halls are on the more 'chic' side, I suppose, but are a bit dark!

Room Tip: If you're sharing a room: If you're sharing a room, you get ONE room key between you and you...
