“Best Hostel EVER stayed in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

Cubical dorm is something to see - double mattress size cubical makes for comfortable sleeping, curtain for privacy, A/C, lockers, tons of showers and bathrooms. VERY clean. Came back 3 times. Once the staff get to know you, they are like family. As a solo traveler it was the best way to kick off a month backpacking trip. Roof top bar is AMAZING fun, met tons of great friends and had so many good times. Short walk to China town and so much more. Breakfast is soo worth it. If you stay in the dorms on the side near the rooftop it can get loud, but the rooms on the other side are very quiet - I stayed 24 mixed dorm and had no issues at all. Loved it. Cannot wait to go back.

Great hostel located not too far from the central market and Masid Jamek station. We stayed in a 8bed party dorm, and the bed area felt absolutely huge. The rooms are quite tall, so people stay on the top bunks really do have to take big steps to get up the ladder, even then, still plenty of spce above your head. Lockable storage closets under te bottom bunk are good too.
Bed was comfy and clean, light, power point (british plug needed) and good privacy curtain. The music from the bar was pumping til 4am, so if you are a light sleeper, don't choose the party dorm area!
Bathrooms were also good. Seperare female and male mini bathrooms. 3 of each gender was in our area, never had to wait for a shower. We ran out of hot water once, and immediately the staff showed us where we could find the next bathrooms to use with hot water,
Truly, a great hostel in chaotic KL.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, don't book a party room

Although very expensive this place is worth every penny!! From the moment we arrived we were treated do kindly by the staff. They helped us any way they could and were enthusiastic about our stay giving us huge amounts of info on the area and what we could do.
The rooms are awesome with your own private pod which was very roomy and surprisingly did not feel enclosed. The mattress/pillow/duvet was extremely comfortable. I had the best nights sleep there. You also have an individual reading light/plug socket and big locker for your stuff.
We spent the night on the rooftop bar drinking many buckets and having a great time dancing till 4am with other guests which was great as it was pouring with rain so we didn't bother going out.
Breakfast was amazing, much more interesting than normally offered and definitely helped with the hangover!
Overall this place is more like a hotel but If you fancy treating yourself I would highly recommend this place! Still the best hostel I've stayed in and I've been on the road for 3 years now!!! I guarantee you won't regret it!

Reggae Mansion seems to be THE place to stay in KL, though there are supposedly more hostels towards bikit bintang also. The dorm room was like nothing I've seen before - you get a double bed sized booth with a curtain, light and power socket, so it almost feels like you're in a tiny room inside a huge room. It really is great. The only problem with this set up is that you feel compelled to close the curtain to your bed when there, so tend to speak to fewer people than a traditional all dorm room.

The only other slight negative would be the price - I believe that in comparison to other backpackers hostels in KL Reggae Mansion is on the more expensive side. But if you're not on a tight budget I can recommend this place for the cleanliness, comfort and facilities.

The location is pretty good - close to the metro system and the bus station I got dropped off at from Butterworth. It is pretty easy to get around KL using public transport.

One further thing: the rooftop bar - great the first night I arrived, quiet the next 3 nights. The drinking games night they attempted to put on one night was bad to the point that it was cringeworthy. I think fair enough if the bar is pumping, but they were flogging a dead horse there. I'd say if the bar looks lively, it could be a great night, if not, head to bukit bintang. Either way the view up there is awesome.

Room Tip: Rooms close to the bar are probably quite noisy on a busy night

we stayed here 2 nights after a travel for the islands, I stayed in a double bed room, the beds were really comfortable, everything clean and nice decorated. The common restrooms are also nice.
They have an awesome atmosphere, a lot of young travelers, a super nice rooftop bar, the breakfast area is really good as well.

I really dont have anything bad to say about this place... it is a little more expensive than the other hostels around but it worth it.

This place was very clean, cool, really nothing to add!
Very good between friends ;). Very close from China Town and the fake market, there are two metro station around.
And you can enjoy your night on the rooftop!
Staff gave us a lot of information (regarding our trip to Perhentian Islands and stuff to do close to that place).
Very friendly, but can be a bit noisy for a couple...

This place is absolutely beautifully decorated. The breakfast is awesome, and it is lovely and clean. The beds are great too; they are a really decent size, and very comfy. There is a mirror and plug by each bed and a curtain at the end so you can have some privacy which is great. There is also decently sized lockers.

The common areas are nice - there is a hangout area, computers, a cafe and a nightclub. Believe it or not this place actually has a cinema. Cool, huh? I also took the city tour with the hostel which was a nice way to meet people and see lots of sights on one day.

The only fault I really have with this place is that the music from the rooftop bar is too damn loud especially if you are on a top floor (which I was). The place literally shakes from the noise. Luckily all the other awesome things balanced that out... but seriously guys, the music doesn't need to be that loud.

Room Tip: Ask for one on a lower floor so you aren't kept awake by the bar.
