“OK hotel restaurant if you're staying at the Traders”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013 via mobile

We used this to grab quick coffee and food while we were staying at the Traders Hotel. Good food and reasonable service, and quite convenient for guests. Buffet looked very good, but we only ordered ala carte.

“Lacks any atmosphere and class”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

We attended Gobo Chit Chat on a few occasions recently during our recent stay at Traders. We ate there for the buffet breakfast and twice to order off the ala carte menu.

Whilst lunch was fine, breakfast can be extremely busy, chaotic and noisy. The tables are located very close to each other which doesn’t really enable any proper conversations to occur as you need to yell over everybody to be heard. I would strongly advise arriving for breakfast before 9am to avoid having to queue for a table.

The food itself is rather good. There is a very extensive range of cuisines available for breakfast including cereals, breads, fruit, eggs, curries, Asian dishes and desserts. The ala carte menu is quite extensive and offers a good range of Western and Asian dishes to choose from. I would recommend trying the 'yong chow' fried rice.

While we struck a couple of nice waiters, the service as a whole is completely lacking. You’re lucky if you receive even a smile from the staff. We did happen to get one lovely young girl who gave us complimentary soups while we waited for our mains. The orders can take forever to be taken and delivered and you need to chase down your coffee if you ordered anything other than the standard percolated stuff. On one occasion the coffees never came and there was no one in sight to even ask, so we just left.

A curious occurrence is that even during very quiet times, you will be seated right next to another table, despite the rest of the restaurant (which is quite large) being completely empty. I think the staff need to recognise that individuals like to eat and converse in private where possible and therefore should spread out their patrons to help encourage a more relaxed atmosphere when they can.

If you are looking for a place to go for a good meal and are not too concerned about the service and atmosphere, then by all means try Gobo Chit Chat out. The food alone deserves 4 stars, but due to the service, I am awarding this restaurant 2.

“Amazing burger”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

After a heavy partying session, I ordered the Traders burger over here. I love burgers and I have to say that the burger here is right up there with the hundreds of different types that I've had. Although expensive, the serving does justice to the price - 2 patties of well cooked beef, a half fried egg, melted cheese , extra bacon (on request) and the works. A definite recommendation.

CAUTION: Do not order the burger if is is not meant for a full meal.

“Chit Chat? You mean Loud Chat”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

Couldn't take the noise in this restaurant. Nice wide variety of food, okay not far out, but the noise is just too much. Its not pleasant trying to eat above the din.
