“Amazing Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

This hotel was the most welcoming hotel we have stayed in. We stayed here with another couple and if we came back to the hotel after them we would be told that they had either come in or were still out.
The hotel rooms were roomy and very clean and the food at the breakfasts or restaurants was superb.
Nothing was a problem, and the view of the petronas towers at night was beautiful.
If we ever travel back to KL again we will certainly stay here.

Once again the Hotel did not disappoint any shape or form.
The service was impeccable. Both the room and bathroom are very spacious.
To have all the required toiletries one needs, plus the very nice bathrobes all add to a very comfortable stay.
The breakfast choice is more than one could wish for, plus anything you might like you just need to ask

Room Tip: Choose a non smoking room with a balcony so you have the best of 2 options if required.

What a fabulous place to stay ! The rooms were are large & very comfortable, we had a fantastic view of the Petronas towers. The staff were very friendly and helpful, very quick with room service and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect.
Breakfast was absolutely amazing so much to choose from and the dishes were sensational, it was nice and close to the Pavilion shopping centre and a very cheap taxi ride from the other tourist areas.
The hop on hop off bus tour of the city is a great way to get around it goes for 2 1/2 hours and the bus stops at alot of shopping and tourist spots, the bus stop is a 2 minute walk from the hotel and your ticket lasts for 24 hours. I would definately go back to the Royale Chulan excellent hotel with excellent service.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms with a view of the Petronas towers.

Really nice hotel, great and enormous building in a Malaysian style. Its different from large hotel chains since its Malaysian. Was really impressed upon arrival and it has a great feel, especially at night with all the lights. Was probably the best or amongst the best hotel of our long trip.
Staff were a little bit slow to check us in and also for check out but they were all friendly.

Rooms were equally impressive, had the deluxe room with view of Petronas Towers! It looks like a great hotel for an event or special occasion as its so impressive. Breakfast and dinner buffets were great although an unusual layout and easy to miss certain things so have a good look around first! We happened to be there during the Ramadan (Hari Raya) and they had a special buffet with entertainment and the place was full of local muslims so was like being invited to a Ramadan party with the locals! Was a real experience. There was even a discount for over 50s so that went down well for people I was travelling with!

Its a slight walk from the city, but its close to the popular shopping areas, about a 10 minute walk to the Pavilion shopping centre where they have the usual shops but a great food court food republic down below so its worth the visit for that, and its also very cheap!

Room Tip: You may be able to get a deal online for this hotel which will make it even better value! For good...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel from 12 to 15 September. It was great. Staff are all very well trained and do everything to please. Room was spacious and comfortable. We took a club room and had access to club lounge for breakfast and happy hour. Both were great, especially happy hour with plenty of delicious stuff to eat and drink. I would stay there again, for sure.

Room Tip: Try the club floors.

We enjoyed our stay at the Royale Chulan. Very nice rooms, with large bathrooms. Our room also had a large balcony with a table and chairs.

The location is very good, just a short walk to Pavilion mall and sky bridge area.

Breakfast was really good. So many options, western and Asian. I recommend the Malaysian dishes.

One note: there was a drainage issue in our shower (slow to drain) but we found if we didn't turn the water on all the way it was not an issue and there was plenty of water pressure without having the water on full.

The Royale Chulan is a hudge hotel in a style you like or not. Unfortunately I didn't. It is built according to old Malay tradition, but all I can see is an ugly brown building with a kitch marble interior. Halways are decorated in white with blue carpet and it all looks as if this was constructed somewhere in the 80s. Not my cup of coffee, but then again, nothing wrong if this is your taste. There are however some real flaws. We booked through Agoda, with a substancial discount. We booked a Premier room, with balcony facing the pool, bath and shower and a somewhat larger room. After checkin, we found ourselves in a room without balcony and bath. Rooms are ok, same style of course, but all is there and wifi is free and works good. I went to the checkin desk to ask about the room and I was informed that we were upgraded to Royale Club level because it was our first stay in the Royale. Well ok, we would have liked the balcony, but we went for the upgrade and decided to check out the Royale Club lounge. However, strangly we were not on the list eligable for the Club benefits, so I had to make another trip to the checkin desk. Once there (the hotel is hudge...) I was informed that we got the upgrade to the Royale Club level, without the benefits... This basically meant that we got an 'upgrade' to a smaller room on a higher floor. I tried to explain the staff that this was not an upgrade but a downgrade. They simply did not understand me: it really was an upgrade, because it said so in the system, although they agreed with me that the result of the upgrade was the smaller room without benefits. When I asked to change our room to the original Premier room, the staff was even surprised that this would mean I did not want the upgrade. What is it with pre-programmed unknowlegable staff in these big hotels?
Well ok, on to our new room. Also here some flaws: aircon works only half (set it on 8C and leave it on while you leave the room and you will be fine), toilet was getting undone and blocked once during our stay, shower doors are falling out of their hinges, several light bulbes were broken, it was a smoking room while none smoking was requested. Minor details, but still anoying. But the biggest problem is the balcony, this overlooks the pool. And whoever designed the hotel, made at least one big error by placing the cooling tower for the aircon system right next to the pool. And believe me, this thing is loud! This is anoying when you are at the pool (which is nice), but makes it even impossible to open your rooms doors to the balcony because of the noise.
In conclusion: this is an ok hotel if you book with discount. The rooms are clean and large, breakfast is good (although oddly spread out over the breakfast area), the pool is nice (use earplugs!), the gym is average and the location is good, but perhaps next visit I would choose for a hotel more towards Bukit Bintang or more towards the Petronas towers as Royale Chulan is neither here nor there.
If you do not get any discount and have to pay around RM600,-- anyway, go to Traders Hotel, same price, much, much nicer.
