I thoroughly enjoyed the Hop On Hop Off bus tour - and I thought it was an excellent vaue and a great way to see so many places that I would NEVER have found or gotten to see if I had tried on my own!
I might have been able to see some of the downtown attractions if I had stuck to a well planned list with directions... but I never would have gotten to the farther off attractions on my own if not for this bus tour - and very doubtful that I would have gone to the museums.
After seeing several negative reviews here, I can only guess that these people did not take advantage of the biggest benefit of this bus tour - and that is right there in the name: "Hop On Hop Off". I can see that if you sat on the bus for 2.5 hours listening to the earphones or reading your guide book it may not be the best guided tour - but that is where the big advantage comes in.... you can simply "Hop Off" the bus and actually GO SEE the attractions in person - and spend all the time you want there! By doing this I got to take real live tours of many of the attractions, and took tons of pictures!
I saw the changing of the guard at the palace, and toured a few museums that were fascinating - and I never would have even had them up high on my list or found them on my own.
At the Petronis Twin Towers, I not only got to see the towers and take pictures of them from the great park across the street - but also went inside and spent another hour walking all over the huge mall inside.
Whether taking a short break to take some pictures (sometimes the bus stopped and let people out for a quick 5 or 10 minute photo opp) - or to tour for an hour... or taking much longer like at the towers & mall... you could hop off and spend some time whenever you wanted and hop on the next bus.
The other really cool thing I really enjoyed about this bus - was a side benefit that nobody has mentioned. It was especially great for me, since I had traveled alone on this trip. Being alone, I had to get over my shyness and ask some other travelers to take pics of me with my camera - and in exchange I took pics of them with theirs. I wound up doing the photo exchange with a couple groups of very nice lovely ladies. One group of 5 gals was from Holland, I think, and the other 2 gals were from Germany. After the first time, then it became a regular thing to take turns taking pics for each other at several stops. There was usually one of those groups on each bus I was on - and it was great to meet several other fellow travelers to share the experience with as well. If I was much younger and single... who knows? LOL
The only negative for me, was that I had such a hard time finding where to purchase the tickets! I had asked around and went in circles trying to find the ticket sales - but fortunately I did all that the day before going on the tour, so I got an early start the next day.
I had a wonderful experience with the Hop On Hop Off bus tour - and thought it was an excellent way to see so many sites all in a day, and for such an inexpensive price too!
